There is a lot of push-back from Trump on voting by mail, but most states allow it, and 1/3 allow it without any excuse. His rationale is that it will lead to vast fraud, but of course that isn't his real reason. His real reason is that he thinks it will be worse for conservatives, but studies have shown that states that have instituted much broader voting by mail haven't had any statistical changes in party voting.

Although, normally voting by mail doesn't affect party votes, I bet it might this year if we have another resurgence of Covid, because I think the right is much more apt to discount the virus than the left. I know that is why Trump is against it.

Whether you're left or right wing, expanding mail in votes is the right thing to do to reduce the likelihood of spreading the virus, to expand voter participation, and to make it easier for those that do show up to stay distant. It will also allow any people with susceptibilities to remain safer. I think voting by mail could be made extremely secure by having people vote using traditional postal mail, coupled with requiring a confirmation either by phone, email or text. If done by phone, then voters can provide confirmation that can include confirming their form number. If done by email or text, it can include a picture of their form, and then confirmation that that was their form. Rather than staffers individually calling people, this can be automated by having voters call the number, text the number, or email the address provided to them on their form. A website can even be created with a database of those that have voted, and perhaps a link to allow people to confirm their vote was correctly registered. For people without computers, a site can include a means to access the database over the phone with some confirmation information. These types of systems are used extensively by banks and other sites that need security, so I think they are mature enough to use. We could even use such a site for people to confirm their vote on the day of the election.

Lol, so Tucker issued an apology tonight for the error. Apparently, she voted Mrs. James Blaylock which some people still do. So easy mistake to make.

That said, their talking points have been complete bunk. It's funny cuz I wasn't really paying attention because I don't watch Tucker. Saw the picture of the lady and wondered why he was picking on her. Rewound it and he was issuing the apology and stated that they want to get the facts right and they will correct their errors unlike some others. That was a riot.

I will never forget during the 2016 campaign how Angela Rye almost spanked her twice on national TV. They had to sit them far apart and eventually wouldn't have them on the same set.

    What happened to Angela Rye?

In 2016 I saw her everywhere all the time

I don’t even know the last time I saw her as a guest on anything

She's on CNN from time to time (as recent as last week), but she's been doing a lot of social justice stuff, hosting a podcast and other things. Based on the place she bought a few years ago, she's doing quite well (and single still I believe).

All this "every legal vote" bullshirt is really starting to annoy me. This perpetually repeating statement, that the majority of republican legislators, faux news etc keep stating on air, in public, does nothing but sew dissent into the validity of voting in this country. It is doing great harm in my opinion, to keep going with this kind of rhetoric

They may not realize it, but they're slowly, but steadily undermining people's confidence in the legitimacy of elections. In essence, if they can't get their way, then blow it up.

Oh, they understand it. Delegitimizing all media, academia, fact-checkers, and institutions that aren't "with them" is the key part of the Republican messaging strategy. If they lose, it can only be because they were cheated. There can be no legitimate disagreement with them. They are only opposed by the Socialists and Marxists (see the QAnon thread). All real Americans are with them, so any honest election they will win.

It's dumb, but it has worked masterfully with half of this country.

Yeah, sooner or later, the consequences of this is going to be disastrous. I hope I'm wrong, but the short-sightedness of otherwise smart people is disturbing. I don't know what the answer is though. It's one of those things where you hope the institutions hold this thing together until people come to their senses.

This us vs them tribal politics has poisoned the well and I'm not sure how to get us away from that. Moderates are a rare breed these days. It just feels like the parties are pushing themselves further and further apart.

Sometimes I wonder of there's some larger forces at play because my personal interactions with people are rarely that bad. I can carry on a normal conversation with most people. But I do intentionally steer the conversation away from controversial topics if I feel like it's not going to be productive.

I dunno. This just feels like we're along for the ride with some strange person behind the wheel.

So...right after Rudy's mind numbing interview, I think it was Flynn's attorney came on and she was saying the evidence of fraud was coming in from hundreds of thousands of people and they are reporting all kinds of stuff, like family members of state officials taking payments to accept the Dominion machines and even the CIA was involved in some way. She saying that Dominion isn't the only company making machines than can be manipulated.

    It's full on insanity.
