here is what the White House did to Brady Tkachuk. They overdubbed his voice disparaging Canada.

Heads bowed, linked by arms across their backs, they gathered in a solemn prayer circle.

“The quiet moments are often the most important,” Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, reflected later on social media. Then Team Trump entered the chamber to cheers and applause for Tuesday’s State of the Union address.

Democrats gathered on Capitol Hill, however, regarded the people appointed by Donald Trumpto his cabinet and other senior positions rather differently.

In the past two weeks alone, they saw a health secretary who boasted about snorting cocaine off toilet seats; a homeland security secretary who allegedly fired a pilot for leaving her blanket on a plane; and an FBI director who chugged beer with Olympic hockey players in Italy at taxpayers’ expense.

In all of US history, there has never been government leadership quite like it. Although these individuals swear undying fealty to the president, their colourful and erratic antics may prove his political undoing.

Yet there is no hint that the man who became famous for saying “You’re fired!” on reality TV has any intention of casting them aside.

Tara Setmayer, founder of the Seneca Project, a women-led political organisation, said: “If you elect a clown, he brings the circus. This is the cabinet that we currently have. It is the most corrupt, incompetent, and embarrassing cabinet in the history of the United States and unfortunately it’s the American people who are paying for it, literally and figuratively.”

She asked: “When you look at Donald Trump’s cabinet, and how they have performed, you have to ask yourself, how are any of these people making America great again?”………

Markwayne Mullin is such an idiot. This is why he gets dragged. He LOVES to wax poetic about war, yet never served in any capacity. Pure performative bull.

    =============
When Secretary of Defense James Mattisaddressed the intensification of U.S. combat operations against the Islamic State group in 2017, he assured the American public of his commitment to “get the strategy right” while maintaining “the rules of engagement” to “protect the innocent.”

Mattis’ professional tone was a stark contrast to Secretary Pete Hegseth’s remarks following the first days of the joint U.S.-Israeli combat operations in Iran.

On March 2, 2026, after bragging about the awe-inspiring lethality of U.S. “B-2s, fighters, drones, missiles,” Hegseth casually brushed aside concerns about long-term geopolitical strategy, declaring “no stupid rules of engagement, no nation-building quagmire, no democracy building exercise, no politically correct wars. We fight to win.”

Admonishing the press for anything less than total assent, he commanded, “to the media outlets and political left screaming ‘endless wars:’ Stop. This is not Iraq.”

Two days later, Hegseth gloated about “dominance” and “control,” while asserting that the preoccupation of the “fake news media” with casualties was motivated by liberal media bias and hatred of President Donald Trump.

“Tragic things happen; the press only wants to make the president look bad,” he said. He dismissed concerns about the rules of engagement, declaring that “this was never meant to be a fair fight. We are punching them while they are down, as it should be.”

I’m a communication scholar who has studied MAGA rhetoric for a decade. I have observed how Hegseth and other officials in the second Trump administration refuse to abide by what recurring rhetorical situations – urgent public matters that compel speech to audiences capable of being influenced – typically demand of public officials.

The theme of this administration is that no one is going to tell it what to say or how to say it. It will be encumbered neither by norms nor the exigencies that compel speech in a democratic society.

    The big man

When the U.S. goes to war, the public expects the president and the defense secretary to convince them of the appropriateness of the action. They do this by detailing the justification for military action, but also by addressing the public in a manner that conveys the seriousness and competence required for such a grave task as waging war.

But during the first week of the Iran war, Hegseth’s press briefings deviated from the measured tone expected from high-ranking military officials.

Hegseth flippantly employed villainous colloquialism – “they are toast and they know it,” “we play for keeps,” and “President Trump got the last laugh” – delivered with a combative tone that communicated masculine self-assurance.

Many observers were taken aback by his haughty tone, hypermasculine preoccupation with domination, giddiness about violence and casual attitude toward death………..

Hegseth’s language choices and petulant tone do not demonstrate an ignorance of what rhetorical situations demand of him; instead, they reflect a refusal to be emasculated by such cumbersome norms.

When making statements about the first week of the war, Hegseth grinned as he delivered action-movie one-liners, like “turns out the regime who chanted ‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel’ was gifted death from America and death from Israel.”

Hegseth engaged in what is known as “kill talk,” a verbal strategy, typically directed at new military recruits, that denies the enemy’s humanity and disguises the terrible costs of violence. His repetition of words like “death,” “killing,” “destruction,” “control,” “warriors” and “dominance” frames violence in heroic terms that are detached from the realities of war.……..

President Donald Trump has appointed Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, to replace her husband’s seat on the Air Force Academy Board of Visitors.

Erika Kirk, 37, is among the six appointees directly selected by the president to sit on the 16-person advisory board. The Board of Visitors is tasked with considering the curriculum and instruction of the academy, recommending disciplinary action and preparing a semiannual report.

Her appointment, which appears to have occurred over the weekend, means she will replace her late husband, whom Trump initially tapped to serve on the board in March 2025. Neither Kirk has formal military training or experience.

White House spokesperson Olivia Wales said Erika Kirk was the “perfect choice” for the board.

“Charlie Kirk served proudly on the Board, inspiring not only the next generation of servicemembers, but millions around the world with his bold Christian faith, defense of the truth, and deep love of country. Erika Kirk will continue his legacy, and be a fearless advocate for the most elite airpower force in the history of the world whose warriors keep our Nation safe, strong, and free,” Wales said in a statement.……..

I'm sure he feels this is unfair and he's a victim
    ==================

President Donald Trump's pick for a senior role at the State Department said Tuesday that he is withdrawing from consideration after having faced bipartisan backlash over his comments about race and religion.

Jeremy Carl, a conservative political commentator, said he was backing out of his nomination to be assistant secretary of state for international organization affairs because of a lack of support from Republican senators.

Carl needed unanimous support from all GOP members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to advance to a full Senate confirmation vote. Republicans on the panel hold a 12-10 majority, so any GOP vote against him would stall his nomination at 11-11 since tie votes do not advance to the Senate floor.

"Unfortunately, at this time this unanimous support was not forthcoming," Carl wrote on X.

"I accept that political reality, and do not wish to have the President, Secretary Rubio, or the rest of his team waste valuable time and energy attempting to change that decision," he added.

Members of the Foreign Relations Committee grilled Carl last month during his confirmation hearing, with some focusing on his past comments on race and religion.

Sen. John Curtis, R-Utah, said in a statement after the hearing that he did not believe Carl was the "right person to represent our nation’s best interests in international forums," adding that Carl's "anti-Israel views and insensitive remarks about the Jewish people" were "unbecoming.".............
