The Trump Cabinet and key post thread

A sense of fear has enveloped staffers in the Department of Homeland Security who are reportedly forced to face Secretary Kristi Noem’s right-hand man, Corey Lewandowski, whenever things go wrong.

Lewandowski, a former Trump campaign official with a reputation for being pugnacious, serves as a special government employee advising Noem. But he’s reportedly amassed enough power in his role that he can fire people and veto $100,000 contracts.

Some DHS staff reportedly refer to Lewandowski as Noem’s “de facto” chief of staffor “shadow secretary.”………

Lewandowski should seriously reconsider being Noem's bulldog.

The worst people in the world are in this admin. Grenell set aside tickets for a GOP group so that they could heckle a black female at her Kennedy Center performance. Grenell staff met the men at the door and ushered them in, the president of the group had circulated a newsletter online urging members to heckle and boo the artist because she had previously made statements critical of Trump and Grenell

“In a newsletter that has since been widely circulated on social media, Manik outlined the group’s plan to disrupt Williams’s performance because she is a “liberal” and “a vocal opponent of President Trump.”

“We’re looking forward to seeing you tonight at our monthly meeting at The Kennedy Center rooftop terrace,” Manik’s email began. He went on to disparage Williams and urged guests to arrive early for the 6 PM concert, which served as a prelude to the 7 PM meeting. “Let’s make sure the audience is filled with Patriots,” he wrote.”

I really don’t like putting most of the senior officers all in one place on short notice. Just asking for trouble.

Yup. Google tells me that there are a combined 800ish generals and admirals across the U.S. military. He's gathering over 25% of them in one place for an unknown reason. That seems like a terrible forking idea.

Yeah, no matter what the actual reason it will be bad. Beyond that the actual reason may be unhinged.

I think Hegseth is about to try to purge the entire rank of generals and admirals of anyone who hasn't clearly shown they are Trump loyalists. I think this is part of a plan to stage a coup ASAP, because Republicans and Trump now realize they cannot win the 2026 midterms and we will not let them get away with actively trying to sabotage or prevent the election. Even the Kirk messaging isn't working for them. They still lost a lot of support across all demographics in polls taken since Kirk's murder.

I think they are getting very desperate which makes them very unpredictable and dangerous. I can't tell you how much I'd be absolutely delighted to learn I was overly concerned about Hegseth calling this meeting.

Jeremy Carl, a nominee for the State Department, quietly deleted thousands of inflammatory tweets as Republicans demand Democrats tone down the political rhetoric in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

Carl, a senior fellow at the Claremont Institute who served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Interior during the first Trump administration, deleted at least 5,000 tweets from his account on X, CNN first reported.

Many of these deleted posts can still be seen in the internet archive, the Wayback Machine……..

Well, I gotta say that the picture of Carl on the link makes him look complete calm and rational…not.

Well, this is unsurprising and possibly illegal. Petty as hell. I will say that our local sheriff’s officers did the same thing during a peaceful protest while on duty at that time. And it was widely viewed as both de-escalating a tense situation and showing respect for the demonstrators. Nobody was disciplined - as was the case with these FBI agents at the time - Trump’s FBI didn’t discipline them at the time, and going back now and firing them over it doesn’t seem either morally or legally correct.

“The people familiar with the terminations, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, said the number of affected agents was as high as 20. Some of those agents, including some in senior roles, were reassigned earlier this year to positions considered to be demotions.

In a statement, the FBI Agents Association, a nonprofit advocacy group that represents bureau employees, noted that several of those fired were military veterans and condemned the firings as “unlawful” and part of a pattern of FBI Director Kash Patel violating the civil service protections “of those who risk their lives to protect our country.””

I hope they all file lawsuits against the agency.
