Control of the Senate is on the line. Assuming the current numbers will stand on recount, only 1.9% of the vote (90,295 votes) separated Republican incumbent David Perdue from his Democratic challenger, Jon Ossof. The third place Libertarian candidate received 2.3% of the vote (144,566 votes). In the special election, Raphael Warnock led the pack with 32.9% of the vote trailed by incumbent Kelly Loeffler who received 25.9% of the vote. Doug Collins, the other major GOP candidate, finished with 20% of the vote. Various other Democrat candidates finished with a combined 15.5% of the vote. Various other GOP candidates finished with 3.4% and roughly 2% for independent candidates.

Andrew Yang has posted that he will be moving to Georgia to help campaign for Ossof and Warnock.

Trump's probably looking at either fleeing the country or facing criminal charges in at least New York and possibly multiple states. He's either going to fade like a fart or his base is going to be screaming about him being persecuted for the next few years.
Get me the popcorn and some cold beer, Ima enjoy every minute of Trump's fade to insignificance. He's going to be prosecuted, not persecuted :hihi:

A Republican commentator said on FoxNews that the entire "overturn the election stunt is assinine and is ruining the party (can't find the link now). He went on the further state that the party must focus on what it did wrong, and how it can reset for 2020.

It's going to be fun watching the rats desert the sinking ship over the coming days and weeks.

They had a big postmortem from 2012 and completely ignored it in favor of saying the racist parts out loud in 2016. Which worked.
I wouldn't put it past the GOP to get even more racist, fascist and wild-eyed, just with even more blatant voter suppression.
    They're out and proud now.

I'm on 2 hours sleep and been battling insomnia for the last 3 weeks, yet I'm giddy this morning. Nice to finally see Hell freeze over. I never really believed two democratic Senators would represent Georgia in the Senate.

Good to finally see McConnell knocked off his perch.

Unfortunately, I think you are absolutely correct. The DNA of the party has been permanently mutated.

It's sad, but you have to know someone at the RNC has looked at how massive their defeat would've been without the Proud Boi, racist, Nazi cohort and realized they're doomed without them.
Trump brought forth a massive basket of deplorables to the voting booth. Millions upon millions for whom overt racism and clownish incompetence aren't deal-breakers. Those who want government to hurt "the people they're supposed to hurt." They swung 2016 for him against an otherwise apathetic, business-as-usual opposition bloc.
In 2020, that bloc was galvanized against him and he lost. There really are more good people in America than racist scumbags. It's closer than I'd like, but whatever.
However, where they're concentrated, this gang of fascist roaches brought victory to GOP senators and congressmen. So what do you do? If you refute them, they'll slink home, refuse to vote and you'll face complete irrelevance in the future, even with levels of gerrymandering the likes of which even God has never seen.
Someone, somewhere, is currently trying his damnedest to figure out how to dogwhistle in this new landscape.

I think that the majority of people who identify as Republican are decent people, even if I think they are misguided in their decisions sometimes. They held their nose and voted for Trump because they have been scared out of their wits about socialism and even communism. They will slowly realize they’ve been lied to, at least that is the hope I’m going to go with, lol.

Oh, and Gabe Sterling, whatever you think of his politics, is damn good at his job. He is on top of the status of the election and is fact checking Trump live on Twitter.

"Our election process is worse than that of third world..."

Says the moron who's only POTUS due to an unique feature in our election process.

Yeah. You saw that last night with how quickly he corrected the whole 171K/117K mishap in DeKalb. He has been on point from day one.

The math is terrible for Republicans in ‘22. They have like 8 more seats up for re-election.

With Warnock winning and it looking like Ossoff is going to pull it out too there could be a 55-45 type number in ‘22

You assume that the Democrats will not fork this up. I've seen enough over the past 20 years to believe that the Democrats are more than capable of forking this up.

Mitch had a choice: he could allow a vote on the $2,000 checks (which would go to poors, ingrates, and various other people he loathes), or he could lose his Senate majority. He chose to lose the Senate majority, and the checks will happen anyway. Poor Mitch.

Since McConnell's Senate is incapable of doing anything other than rubber stamping Federalist Society judges, and since he wasn't going to be able to do that for at least four years anyway, it's probably a relief to him to no longer have to pretend to have to govern.

I think this started with the "southern strategy" and this trumpism is close to the, if not the, final form of that, so to speak. But that might just be my mind, because I can't imagine anything worse than trump

Since 1980, it's been like watching the political form of The Thing. You're like "Okay, the spider-legged self-decapitating head has to be the worst it can be, right? RIGHT!?!"

Well, I do hope the $2k gets passed. It certainly would help a lot of people. I'd much rather see UBI become a reality though.

The USA is embarrassed by fools

I disagree on the fools being referred to but Trump has never said a truer statement
