It seems that a billionaire GOP donor has spent a small fortune on vacations for Ginni and Clarence Thomas.

If Ketanji Brown Jackson and George Soros were in the same Walmart at the same time Fox News and Twitter would melt down

A better example would be a Bill Clinton on the same tarmac as Loretta Lynch. The right simply doesn't care about it's hypocrisy. I'm shocked the left takes any of their criticism serious.

The right simply has no principals beyond whatever it takes to obtain, and hold power.

    Step in and do what?

Do they have any authority to do anything?

Yes, the Senate Judiciary Committee has oversight jurisdiction over the federal judiciary including the Supreme Court.

The SJC can open an investigation with subpoena power and hearings for two purposes: (1) the committee can build a case for new legislation to impose stricter controls over the justices’ receipt and tracking of gifts and gratuities, and (2) make an evidentiary record upon which a federal criminal prosecution could be brought, or a court censure proceeding, or an impeachment process could lie based on Thomas’s past transgressions.

Not saying those would happen but it’s meaningful and can bring about a result. Note that Durbin isn’t saying he’s going to, he’s telling Roberts that if the Court doesn’t handle its house business, the SJC will.

It was a Senate committee that took Nixon down.

Durbin is to cautious and collegial to really do anything. He'll make what appears to be the "tough" statements now, but will eventually back down. He won't even push through federal judges in red states out of "respect" for red Senators. You know, people like Ted Cruz. So the federal judiciary in red states will just keep getting more right wing because the red Senators will just keep stalling until they have a Republican president.

I don't know if I want to go that far just yet. In the previous Congress, all of the Senate committees had even representation due to the 50-50 split. That made it harder to push a lot of assignments through. This added to the tactics the Republicans already had at their disposal to hold up confirmations. Things have picked up some since the new Congress and the governing agreement no longer needed with the current make-up.

Today the non-partisan federal ethics group Campaign Legal Center requested that the Judicial Conference, a federal body that oversees operating policy in the federal court system, refer the Thomas matter to the Justice Department for investigation into reporting violations.

Do you honestly think anything would come of this? It just seems like everything bad/corrupt/immoral that conservatives have done the past 4-6 years has been glossed over, forgiven, and forgotten.

Nope. He will not be impeached and he doesn't have the integrity to resign.

There was a time when politicians had the integrity and guts to call for a resignation that could hurt their party but was essential for the good of the nation. Democrats with Abe Fortas and Republicans with Richard Nixon. Sadly, I don’t expect any - zero - Republicans to support his resignation. They easily could do it and it would go a ways towards restoring a bit of respectability to the court. But they will not.

Thomas’ mother was living in one of the properties when Crow made the purchase. After buying the home, Crow reportedly began renovations totaling $36,000. Crow’s company also began paying the property taxes on Thomas’ mother's house that were previously covered by the justice and his wife.

He bought Thomas' mother's house, renovated it. and began to pay her property taxes. This is batshit crazy.
