All of these people (including Federman) are saying this is proof we need the White House ballroom - but this event wouldn’t have been in the WH ballroom because it’s not a White House event. Trump spoke at the Detroit Economic Club earlier this year - will that event now be in the White House ballroom?

And are White House officials going to start running these events? They don’t exactly just rent out the White House, they don’t have a permit process. So is WHCA going to be federalized??

Oh, I don’t think this is thoughtless at all. The rules don’t apply to Trump. Everyone seems to agree on this. They just see this as something Dear Leader seems to want and so they fall in line.

I don’t know why he wants this ballroom so very badly, but I suspect it is for some nefarious reason. He doesn’t do anything benignly. He never has his entire life.

Very good points about the idiocy of thinking that the WH ballroom could host events like the correspondents dinner. Chuck already mentioned - the dinner isn’t a WH event, it’s a charitable event meant to raise money and awareness for journalism, and the guest number is approx, 2,000 people. The WH ballroom will hold maximum 1,000 people.

See, what baffles me, is that I saw that this 'manifesto' the NY Post published apparently from this guy.

And it has a bit at the end where he rants about the security, specifically:

They haven't charged him (yet) with 18 USC 1751, perhaps because he might not have gotten close enough to constitute an 'attempt' - but note also the penalty is "any term of years or for life". That said, I don't disagree that it seems the charge would be available and given his intent, life sentence seems on the table.

I'm loving everybody's reaction to this. I really haven't watched any news on it just because I really don't care what happened, but it's freaking hilarious that everybody is just assuming this is another false flag operation. It certainly appears that way from Trump and all his little right wing sycophants immediate turn to the ballroom narrative. Yep. If it was staged, it has to be a small group that is surrounding Trump that is pulling it off. I say that only because the Butler attempt was under Biden's administration technically. But there is a lot that doesn't add up. Just like there's a lot that doesn't add up about the Kirk assignation and this attempt.

The reason more and more people are having these reaction is because of everything Trump and Republicans have been doing. They are fundamentally unserious and we don't believe their official account on anything because they lie so much and are constantly trying to manipulate the narrative and news coverage.
