This guy needs to resign immediately. What a complete crook. Link should be a gift article. I would like to think that Dem leadership will demand he resign.

The dems in the Senate should be ashamed of themselves that he's still in the Senate.

Can they remove him though is my question. I remember some pushing for Feinstein to be removed from the Judiciary Committee before she died and they said they didn't have the votes on the committee to.

I had to google, but yes they can. It requires a 2/3 vote which is very hard to get. Only 15 Senators in history have
been expelled and most of those were during the civil war.

But, like, who wouldn't vote to expel him? It shouldn't be hard to get 2/3rds...I think it may be that they're refusing to bring it to a vote. Could be wrong on that tho.

I think some people don’t want to expel someone who hasn’t been found guilty. Last time he was not convicted, IIRC. I don’t necessarily agree, and would be fine with him being expelled, but I think that’s why leadership hasn’t moved on it. After he is found guilty, I would hope they would move quickly though. They removed him from his chairmanship right away, IIRC.

MT beat me too it. Some Senators won't vote to expel for an indictment. They want him to have his day in court
    and be convicted first.

Has George Santos been convicted of anything yet?
He admitted his crimes, I believe.

Edit to add: I looked it up. He plead not guilty to his indictments, but admitted lying about nearly everything on his bio while running for office. The House Ethics Committee finished an investigation and issued a report on unethical behavior, and that’s why he was expelled. It took the committee about a year to do that.

Does he do the right thing and resign? Considering he plans on running as an independent, I doubt it.

I assume that now that he's been convicted, Schumer will be forced to take some type of removal action even if he doesn't. I don't know how that works though.

The Senate requires a 2/3 majority vote which isn't easy to get. Only 15 have been removed from office in our history. 14
of those during the Civil war for obvious reasons.
