Considering I posted this in a political forum, it may come as no surprise
In April, science emerged suggesting H5N1 viral concentrations were extraordinarily high in the udders of infected cows, raising concerns that their milk could cause infections in humans. Many health experts breathed a sigh of relief when studies showed the virus is killed in milk that’s been pasteurized — that is, heated to kill invisible microbial pathogens.

Here’s the wild part: According to a recent report from the Associated Press, in the time since these announcements were made, weekly raw milk sales have gone up, not down — an increase of 65 percent compared to the same period last year.

Public health officials are warning of an outbreak of Campylobacter and E. coli-related complications linked to the consumption of raw milk from a Florida farm.

The raw milk outbreak has impacted 21 people, including six children under the age of 10, causing seven hospitalizations, according to the Florida Department of Health. Two people have faced “severe complications,” the department added.

Sanitation practices in this farm are of particular concern due to the number of cases,” the department said in an announcement on Monday, though it did not name the particular facility.

The Independent has contacted the department for more information.

Raw milk can only be sold for non-human consumption in the state though some skirt the rule and buy milk meant for pets or animal feeds for their personal use.……..

I used to drink raw milk, but I'm not a cultist or evangelical about it. I made sure that my milk was produced and handled by people who made sure it was safe. I stopped drinking it, because it got harder and more expensive to get.

Commercial raw milk can no longer be safe because of bird flu jumping to cows and getting rid of regulations against pollution is going to lead to air and water pollution that makes it impossible for even the best intentioned raw dairy farm to keep their cows healthy.

The primary reason we had to start pasteurizing milk in the late 1800's into early 1900's was because unregulated industrial pollution made it impossible to commercially raise healthy cows which made their milk unhealthy. Trump and Republicans are going to make this country look like it did during those times. Want to know how bad it was? Just take a look at what's happening in India today and how bad things were in China around 20 years ago.

While it is true a dirty environment can affect raw milk production, some bacteria like E-coli and campylobacter are part
of a cows normal gut flora. It's not worth the risk Imo. Pasteurized for me please.

If she did not know, she was very ignorant. sounds more like an opportunity since you can't buy raw milk to drink in Florida. So good luck.
They use a loophole though. The containers say not for human consumption. It doesn't prevent humans from drinking
it though. It protects the seller from liability.

edit- after rereading your post I believe we're saying the same thing.

Yeah, I’m not sure how she can sue the dairy if the milk was clearly labeled not for human consumption. Although it wouldn’t make me mad if the dairy had to pay some damages either. They had to know all the people buying their products were drinking them.

And the dairy should be doing it's own sample testing to make sure the product that they shipped out was not contaminated. RFK Jr championing raw milk was always going to lead to depraved irresponsibility with raw milk, because he's a depravedly irresponsible person.

The same concept behind “this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease” used in the supplement business.

I just made the parallel connection between that dishonest deceptive tactic and one of TampaJoe's favorite tactics. "As long as I say these specific words once, then you can't hold me accountable for all the other contradictory and deceptive things I say over and over and over."

Words displayed/said right after a 10 minute infomercial claiming the supplement does exactly that
Precisely. I always want to ask them if it isn’t meant to do those things then why do you claim the product can do those things?

I don't think she has a case. I mean I can't figure out how she would be in possession of evidence which would make her case. So what I think she's doing is making a claim in the hope that the deep pockets she is trying to tap will settle instead of fighting a messy court fight no one wins. I think that fishing for a settlement method works a fair amount of the time.

I don't think this issue has had two cents added to it since I was about 12 year old. Twelve years old and always willing to help one of my aunts off load her milk at the feed store. It was a daily dairy thing three of my aunts did all through the years when I was growing up. Between two to five cows, all three had a reasonably clean dairy in their kitchens. They would make a few thousand a year producing milk and eggs, sometimes butchered chickens.

The way it was done was to sell it in one gallon jars, which had no labels at all it was like "Cow's Milk $1.50 a gallon." There was a refrigerator, they would move 40 or 50 gallons a day. The word was it was for calf feed, and some people did buy it for that. That is a real thing.

Some people also pissed and moaned about how awful it was. People, real people would buy that milk and take it home and actually like it. How dare they!!!

I grew up drinking it, and I like it that way. There's no one doing that around here so it doesn't come up. We do buy fresh eggs though, oh my gosh-they haven't been candled, oh my, there might be a blood spot in one if them.

I grew up that way, if I break an egg and it has a blood spot, I pick it out using a fork, and then when the egg has finished cooking I eat it. The blood spots go out to feed the birds, those feathered dinosaurs like to eat everything. With them around nothing goes to waste. So if there was raw milk around I would buy it. But there is not.

“Raw milk can contain numerous disease-causing germs, including Listeria, which is bacteria that can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, preterm birth, or fatal infection in newborns, even if the mother is only mildly ill,” the New Mexico Department of Health said in the press release.

Bizarrely, most of the guys pushing raw milk are also pushing for a ban to all abortions. Satirically speaking, maybe women should buy a gallon of raw milk and let it sit on the kitchen counter for a few hours, instead of buying pills. I'm sure the raw milk anti-abortion bros would be happy to hook them up with a gallon.
