There’s a lot of doubt that Kevin McCarthy will be able to get enough votes to become Speaker. It certainly won’t happen on the first ballot. Already Boboert and MTG are publicly at odds over it.

Maybe this is worth it’s own thread to watch. One person mentioned is Scalise.

    Keeps head in the sand...

Funding a war that Ukraine has no chance of beating Russia will lead to more Ukrainian deaths.

Oh they are polled them huh? Why are they having to pull men off the street to force them to fight? Why are some men paying a lot of money for people to get them out of their country?

MAKIV, Ukraine — Few men of fighting age are left in this village in southwest Ukraine, and those who remain fear they will be drafted at any moment.

Their neighbors are already hundreds of miles east in trenches on the front lines. Some have been killed or wounded. Several are missing. Others from this rural area — about 45 miles from the borders of Romania and Moldova — have fled abroad or found ways to avoid the war, either with legitimate exemptions or by hiding.

“It’s just a fact,” said Larysa Bodna, deputy director of the local school, which keeps a database of students whose parents are deployed. “Most of them are gone.”

It's quite obvious to everyone that illegal immigration has dramatically increased since Biden came into office, said at the debate for migrants to rush the border, and all his executive orders that make it easier for migrants to get into the country and not get deported.
And yet when a bill is finally introduced to address immigration, the GOP scuttles it.

so Putin will just open his loving arms to them???? I mean after he spend so much time murdering them in the name of lies that is. but hey we dont need crane or Poland let Putin take them what could possibly go wrong. sounds like your challenging good old Tucker Carson.

That bill did nothing to fix the border or immigration. It was a ploy to try to get the Ukraine bill passed.
Wow. A great opinion for something that hasn’t even gotten put into effect.

How do you know that Ukraine can't win? Isn't just as probable that not giving Ukraine aid is prolonging the war? Didn't Ukraine repel Russia with almost no aide at the very beginning of the war?

I've gotten into this before with you, but you have bad takes on domestic issues, and comprehending data: ie border arrest = a porous border. The geopolitical issues like the Ukraine war has even more moving parts.

An example, America is not the only country supplying Ukraine. Europe appears fully committed to helping Ukraine. NATO is not a collection satellite states. We can't tell these countries not to fund the war, or send troops. They are rightfully worried about Russia potentially bordering/coming closer to their borders. Ukraine will be funded no matter what we do.

I want to make this simple:

    1. I think we should fund Ukraine so long as they want to defend their country.

    2. You think Ukraine is doomed to lose this war. That any aide given to them is prolonging the inevitable.

You can't prove your assertion. You keep saying this, but what happened this week? Russia lost 13 oil refineries, and another 2 landing ships. They are down over half of these type of ships.

You need to find a way to back up your original assertion if you want to have this discussion.

We have a clear example from history of a country like Russia losing this kind of war. I'll remind you Germany in WW1 had taken a huge section of France, got bogged down in a static trench front, and then lost the war because it ran out of resources.

This is completely false. It’s a Trump lie. Go read the bill. Go listen to James Lankford, a true conservative, talk about the bill.

This bill was killed for one reason only: because Trump doesn’t actually care one bit about immigration or the border. He just wants the issue to talk about so he can get elected.

What's even funnier conservatives come on here talking about this issue but then turn around and vote for "I'm the King of debt."
SFL isn’t a conservative. He’s a partisan isolationist authoritarian, IMO.

He’s also someone who isn’t bothered by supporting a person who is deeply dishonest and fraudulent. There are those who justify the means to an end and will go along with dishonesty and fraud to get what they want. Anyone who supports Trump at this point has to be considered as this type of person.

It was obvious from the start that a country like Ukraine couldn't beat Russia without the US putting troops on the ground.

Ukraine has made little to now progress in the last year and a half. You've seen the maps from the NYT that show that right?

There isn't a statistic for all the illegals that made it into the country. For all the migrant encounters at the border, many more make it into the country without us knowing exactly how many.

Every immigration statistic that I've seen is up dramatically from when Biden took office. What does that tell you about all the migrants that got in that we can't count?

Its hard for somone, who claims to be as smart as you do, to be so naive about foreign policy. We are involved in just about every war and conflict, but you are still under the impression that we do it to protect democracy and for altruistic reasons.
An example, America is not the only country supplying Ukraine. Europe appears fully committed to helping Ukraine. NATO is not a collection satellite states. We can't tell these countries not to fund the war, or send troops.
There's that foreign policy naivete again. Considering that we provide most of Europe's security and how little other countries contribute to NATO its laughable that you don't think the US has huge amount of leverage over Europe and they use it.

Look how quickly any talk of an independent investigation of the Nord Stream pipeline went away.

They are rightfully worried about Russia potentially bordering/coming closer to their borders. Ukraine will be funded no matter what we do.
Putin has never attacked a NATO country. What makes you think that changes?

That can't be proven either way at this point especially by people discussing it on a message board.

Maybe you think it's a good sign for Ukrainian's chances that they are running out of cannon fodder..I mean troops, they are forcing people off the street to fight and that they've made little to no progress the last year and a half.

We have a clear example from history of a country like Russia losing this kind of war. I'll remind you Germany in WW1 had taken a huge section of France, got bogged down in a static trench front, and then lost the war because it ran out of resources.
Keep dreaming if it makes you feel better.

No it’s not. Why didn’t Russia sweep into Kyiv in 3 days? If Ukraine is so weak why hasn’t Russia advanced in the past year? Why did Russia lose half its Black Sea fleet? What makes you think Russia won’t continue killing civilians and kidnapping children if we stop funding Ukraine? What makes you think that Ukraine will stop fighting? A Twitter account?

You only read and listen to one sided sources. You have a totally skewed perspective and it is skewed toward Russia. Everyone can see this except you, I guess.

What makes you think Russia wanted to advance any farther into Ukraine?

Says the person who posts things constantly from people like David Sadamn has WMD Frum, a guy who does PR for a repressive regime and is a registered foreign agent of UAE David Rothkopf, CIA linked Anne Applebaum, Neocon Bill Krystol, clown Jennifer Rubin, etc.

These are the people you claim are credible:

Explain Russian comments about direct territory connection to Kaliningrad. Territory that is Poland’s.
