There’s a lot of doubt that Kevin McCarthy will be able to get enough votes to become Speaker. It certainly won’t happen on the first ballot. Already Boboert and MTG are publicly at odds over it.

Maybe this is worth it’s own thread to watch. One person mentioned is Scalise.

Maybe, but that's not really here or there. If Americans continue to vote for and elect Republicans, this is the disfunction they're voting for. Nobody should be surprised.

This mess was all foretold when McCarthy caved to his parties hard right and was elected Speaker after 15 rounds. The only surprise is that it didn't happen sooner.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the dems over performed in the last election? In an off year when dems don’t even show up to vote? I swear it was called…historic somewhere. But sure blame everything on the dems. It’s always the parents fault anyway when the child misbehaves.

    Edit…oooohhhh…….ooohhh…and gerrymandering.

So what happens if we have to join Israel in this war with Congress being defunct?

So your contention is that Jeffries saying what actually happened - Russia tried to interfere in our election in 2016 (and 2020 tbh) - both times in an effort to help Trump win is THE EXACT SAME as what Trump did after 2020? Is that your assertion?

This may be one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read on the internet. And that’s a high bar to clear.
You don't like the rules the Democrats created being enforced on the Democrats? You guys have constantly said if anyone denied the election results that they are a threat to democracy. Is there a special exception in the rule for Democrats?

Here's a 5 minute video highlighting the hypocrisy of the Democrats and their whining about election deniers. I'm sure you won't watch it because you only want the rules to apply to Republicans similar to your own message board rules here that you don't even follow.

Republicans have an actual coup attempt, and of course SFL is trying both sides the discussion.

    COME ON

edit: That video is trash, and is just a voiceover, and silence.

Yeah, he's acting like 1/6 didn't happen. Pretty much why I have him on mental ignore. Not responding to any more of his nonsense.

wherein we marvel at the complete lack of awareness of MAGA:

This made me feel a little bit better

Funny - but for the record, so everyone remains clear 😁, the House (nor the Senate nor the Joint Session) doesn't certify electoral votes. The joint session "counts" votes or may take action to object (on very narrow grounds) to a certification given by a state election official.

Except everyone was getting queasy imagining Jordan being Speaker during that process. Or at least I was. He wouldn’t be deterred by the actual Constitution, wasn’t before and wouldn’t be next time.

Fair, but the Speaker doesn’t have a formal role in the counting.

.. and I guess Dems have no impact on people voting for Republicans.
