Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

His assault on us and the Constitution will be remembered in the history books, just like Benedict Arnold and Joseph McCarthy always will be remembered in the history books. He's the worst president and the only sitting president that ever tried to overthrow the US Constitution. That will never be forgotten.
I agree he’s the worst president, but just coming from my experience being taught McCarthyism in high school.
I know McCarthyism. I was taught about the era.
I barely even know what Joseph McCarthy looks like.

Pakistan has announced its intention to recommend Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in de-escalating the recent conflict between India and Pakistan.

The accolade is one President Trump has openly expressed a desire for, having previously lamented a perceived lack of credit for his diplomatic efforts.

The nomination stems from President Trump's intervention in May, which saw a surprise ceasefire announcement bring an abrupt end to a four-day confrontation between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

President Trump has since repeatedly claimed that his actions averted a nuclear war and saved millions of lives.……..

Interesting as Modi said Trump had nothing to do with it.

I doubt anyone will forget the damage he has done.
I wanna make a distinction from policies from the person.
Earlier I gave the example of people having a general knowledge about McCarthyism but the general population not even knowing what Joe McCarthy looks like.
    I think that’s gonna be Trump’s fate.

Joe McCarthy looked a lot like Richard Nixon, he wasn't fat. Slender people disappear into relative obscurity after death, much easier than fat people do.

In terms of being an object of ridicule no one ever gets to live being fat down.

    Besides he's a toon, a fat cartoon.

Noted: you have to have a “business need” not an academic need, which leaves historians and scholars out of the picture. Blatant, IMO.

They’re not just rewriting history — they’re burying it. The quiet removal of exhibitions at institutions like the Smithsonian was only the beginning. Now, with the National Archives set to become a “restricted-access federal facility” starting July 7, the public is being locked out of its own history. Limiting access to only those with a so-called “legitimate business need” — a term vague enough to mean anything — is a clear step toward erasing accountability and hiding uncomfortable truths from the public eye.

As George Orwell warned in 1984: He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past. That’s not just fiction anymore — it’s happening in real time.

seems they are breaking the law as the government info is supposed to be available to the public.

I hear you. Fortunately, George Orwell had no idea the internet and civilian video surveillance would exist. Orwell had no idea that billions of little brothers and sisters would be watching big brother as much as big brother was watching them. Knowledge and the past can't be as easily hidden as it could be just 25 years ago. China, Russia and N Korea are examples, no matter how much they try to control the flow of information on the internet within their borders, they can only hinder it. All 3 of those countries were already tyrannical before the age of the internet occurred.

Good luck to anyone in America that tries to take unfettered and uncensored internet access away from the American public. That would be like a crystal meth dealer refusing to sell to their addicted clients and blocking them from accessing other dealers. That would end very badly for the dealer.

I also believe this is another battle tyrant Trump will lose in the courts, including the Supreme Court.

Agreed. But the government could still try to shut down sites by labeling them as sources of “misinformation.” Whether that tactic would hold up in the Supreme Court is anyone’s guess. The Court has already allowed other blatantly unconstitutional actions to stand — so at this point, nothing can be ruled out.
