Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

We're weeks away from a golden trump statue being installed on the WH lawn.
You know what's sickening? I allowed the nephews youtube time and they watched these videos designed for young boys. I was aghast when I heard a commercial w Kristi Noem touting this is trump's border and she's throwing about all these trump gushings.

Government efficiencies my arse. Spent us dollars on that but cut important government positions?

Bruce Springsteen took the time during his latest concert to brand the Trump administration as “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous”.

The 75-year-old musician, known as “The Boss”, was performing at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.

While introducing his song “Land of Hope and Dreams”, Springsteen announced: “The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock ‘n roll in dangerous times.

“In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.

“Tonight we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!”……….

Nah. I asked you to set the standard. Unethical but not illegal gets a pass. So if you have proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he has committed crimes as POTUS, he should be impeached and prosecuted for those crimes.

I think that is a low bar ethically, but if that is the standard that everyone agrees is appropriate, I guess it will just have to do.

While what Hunter did (using his name to get ahead) can be considered unethical on a personal level - Hunter IS not Joe Biden- and was NOT a public employee at the time when he was employed by Burisma, so how does Hunters behaviour lead to your conclusion that JOE Biden is unethical? The opposite is the case with Trumps children who has gained benefits worth billions by being official members of his administration.

He just simply calls it the same and doesn’t ever acknowledge that there’s any difference. That’s how he maintains his veneer of morality while supporting the party that supports Trump. He HAS to say they’re the same, because if he supports the GOP who is supporting an assault on ethics and morality he loses his perceived ethical superiority.

He’s been showing us this ever since he joined this site. You won’t ever get any honest engagement with him.

This is one dishonest post, Joe. Nobody ever said unethical but legal gets a pass (and I’m not even sure what that means - you cannot prosecute something that isn’t illegal), what we are trying to do is get you to acknowledge that they are not the same thing. Everyone here said that what Hunter Biden did was a bit sketchy at the time. You can go back and look at the posts. Using your name or connections to get a position is a bit sketchy but not illegal. The rest of the stuff was made up.

You have your reasons that you want to call them the same, but everybody else here can see right through them.

Nice couple of paragraphs from a story in The Atlantic that sums up the lack of ethics and the willingness to skirt the law, if not outright break our laws.

“For years, the large majority of Republicans have chosen to ignore Trump’s efforts to capitalize on the presidency to enrich himself and his family. Despite his promises, the president never did release his tax returns or totally divest himself from his business in his first term (his two eldest sons simply took over the day-to-day operations). Trump ignored the emoluments clause of the Constitution, which prohibits elected officials from accepting gifts from foreign states, sparking multiple lawsuits. Perhaps his most egregious example of pay-to-play was the Trump International Hotel, in the towering old post-office building just a few blocks from the White House. When a foreign delegation came to visit Washington, a fine way to curry favor with the chief executive was to rent a block of rooms at the hotel. And taxpayer dollars flowed into the Trump family’s coffers every time he spent a weekend at one of his own resorts, where he required staff and Secret Service agents to stay there.

The Trump International Hotel was sold during Trump’s four years out of office, but the president’s efforts to profit have become only more blatant. His business has made a move into cryptocurrency with a pair of “meme coins” and an exchange called World Liberty Financial, which issues its own token, just as Trump is in a position to back crypto-friendly legislation. An auction involving one of the meme coins, $TRUMP, concluded this week, with the top holders of the coin winning a dinner with Trump and a private tour of the White House. And American Bitcoin, a crypto-mining firm backed by the Trump sons, will soon go public, meaning that investors at home and abroad will be able to pour money into the company.“

Trump is a crook, full stop. He should be in prison along with his cronies.

A text message from Hunter to his daughter says enough.

“I love all of you. But I don't receive any respect and thats fine I guess -works for you apparently. I Hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family Fro 30 years. It's really hard. But don't worry unlike Pop I won't make you give
me half your salary.”

Hunter cashed in on Joe’s name and power and had to pay up to Joe. I’m sure Hunter and Joe’s siblings paid a nice cash tribute to Joe in gratitude for making it rain on their behalf.

You don’t build this house in 1996 on the salary of a senator and a grade school teacher at a catholic school.

Joe, in hin days as a senator, was an astute practitioner of the Jim Wright school of subtle corruption.

And none of this subtle corruption was revealed during Obama’s VP vetting or during the 2020 primary or general campaigns?

The GOP, which crucified Hillary Clinton non stop over emails and Benghazi in 2016 decide to give Biden a pass on the open secret of his soft corruption?

and didn’t bring it up again during Comer’s impeachment hearings?

Rhode Islander ticked off by unfortunate typo on Trump watch

not even a trum watch but a knockoff with his name.

You’re delusional. You’re no different than any other MAGA cult member.

You’re offering a cryptic text message as proof of these supposed payments? Where is the real proof, Sendai? Joe’s tax returns have been public for decades. All of his finances have been public.

You post a picture with zero context as an attempted smear?

You have defended the actual corruption of Trump accepting a $400 million dollar airplane. You have said nothing about the billions that the Saudis and the royal family of Qatar gave Trump’s family. Yet you want to infer corruption from a text message that was sent during a family feud?

GTFO with this crap.

The context which Hunter has explained in an interview (trying to find it) and why he wrote it to his daughter, it that Joe asked Hunter to pay half his salary when he got his first job and was still living at home. Not an unusual things for parents to do to teach their kids that things cost money.

But the MAGAs don't care about context

and didn’t bring it up again during Comer’s impeachment hearings?

Anyone that thinks this terrible waste of taxpayer money and clown show with that absolute moron of a stooge that is Comer was ever meant to do anything but distract (every accusation is a confession) from Trumps crimes is delusional and out of touch with reality......

The trolling is strong in this thread (IMO).....

Yes your post is dishonest. I already said twice they were different cases and different facts. Twice. Now three times. Perhaps your reading comprehension is lacking.

Bit if your ethical standard is based upon whether something is or is not legal, then it seems to me if you want people to support removing a duly elected sitting President, you need to prove illegality.

So as I have said twice before and now for a third time, if you have such proof to sustain a conviction of criminal conduct as President , impeach him and prosecute him.

I am sure I will probably have to repeat this yet again for you. Maybe ask a friend to read it to you.

Do you think Trump should be impeached?
