Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

I didnt pick the candidates. You assume people will simply accept whomever is offered. Obviously it didnt work out like that.

You had the same choices we all did. No singular person "picked the candidates", but that's what we had because of the process by which we pick candidates for office as a country. The choice I made when I voted Harris was two-fold: 1.) Because I thought that Harris was best suited for the job (maybe you don't agree). 2.) Because I would never vote for a candidate who is authoritarian dictator (who had already attempted and insurrection), that would run our country into the ground and would do what was necessary to keep them out of office. Even if you couldn't get down with reason #1, reason #2 was an obvious no brainer. You still aren't able to acknowledge even that much.

But it is your responsibility. Democracy doesn’t just run on slogans — it requires active participation. Choosing not to vote is choosing to hand over your voice and your power. It’s abdicating responsibility for the direction of the country and pretending you're not part of the outcome.

And speaking of responsibility — you still haven’t explained why you think Harris wasn’t right for the job. Funny how that part keeps getting dodged.

I can’t help but wonder if the real reason is something you’re not willing to say out loud. But let’s be honest — prejudice doesn't always need to be shouted to be loud and clear.
My responsibilty is to decide whether or not to support a candidate. A vote is an affirmation of support. I chose not to support either candidate in that particular race. I never thought Trump was good for the job and refused to vote for him. I dont believe Kamala was a good candidate. I actively decided not to vote for her. I went to the polls just like everyone else. I did not give my support in that race to either of the two main contenders. Again, I refuse to vote for a candidate I cannot support. To do so would be an abdication in my view. Its my vote to spend as I please.

Your implication that it has anything to do with her gender or skin color is just a BS talking point. I would have gladly voted for Nikki Haley as I thought she was the best candidate in the race. I am a moderate cnservative. Dont expect me to vote for someone on the far left by default just because I cant support the other candidate. Nothing in the Constitution compels a citizen to vote. Its a right but it is also a choice.

I listed a number of issues where I differ with Harris earlier in this thread.

You did not do your homework.. Harris is not FAR LEFT. Far from actually. She is closer to old time republicans on many policies. Which policy of Harris are you calling "Far left" ? Haley on the other hand is MAGA light so we see where you stand now

Let's face it, no matter if Jesus was the Democratic candidate, he wasn't going to vote D anyway. The claim that a Democratic candidate being good enough for him to vote for is a fantasy. I don't buy his justifications at all.

Obviously we disagree on 1. I dont completely agree with your premise on 2.

We have a Constitution that works. It is the basis of our Democracy. I believe and have faith in our institutions that the country will survive this election as we have every other election over the past two centuries. You may disagree.

She is no where near old time republican. Not even in the same ballpark.

You do realize the current Administration is deliberately ignoring court rulings all over the place? The Constitution is a historical footnote if not outright hinderance to the people in power right now.

Congress is absolutely abdicating their responsibilities right now.

Which part of her policies were "far left"... Once again you keep throwing out Trump's claims but never answer with your own. So tell us which did you consider "far left"

I've said it before, but this was me when I was first old enough to vote. No party put forward a candidate worthy of my vote, as far as I was concerned/convinced. It didn't take me long to realize how childish that stance is.

They have to go all in. Otherwise they have to come to terms with being conned.
It’s been shown that non Trump candidates have been horrible at getting elected.
    Trump barely won 24.
I see 28 going to the Dems just based on the usual variance in independents.

What do do see are examples like Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
A Gen 1MAGA taking over as Governor of a blood red state.
But nationally, no one post Trump will succeed in my opinion.

You claim she is close to an old time republican. Which part? Which republican.

When you start answering me first then I will answer you. You have never even once put forth a genuine answer always just demanding others answer yours. Well I am done with you. You are maga but it too ashamed to admit it and keep spreading lies. Well we know what you are and in the end no one will care to answer all your rubish claims.
