Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

To be fair, DeSantis quickly pledged to veto it if it would by some miracle pass, and I read that the bill has already been withdrawn. The person who proposed it is in the cult, IMO.
Yeah, I read an article today where the Senator who introduced it, Ilena Garcia, explained that she introduced it because she was concerned about the number of conservative candidates, and the political weaponization against them, but now “one frontrunner now remains, and he can handle himself,” so she is withdrawing the bill.

To be clear, it was filed to help everyone BUT Donald Trump fight the charges against them.

As for DeSantis, I wouldn’t count on him having vetoed it if it got to his desk. He is simply politically smart enough to know that as soon as the bill got out in the public, there was no way it would pass, so he made sure to get out ahead of it.

Donald Trump’s speech before the New Hampshire primaries took a bizarre turn as he went on a tangent about “forts” and their role in the World Wars.

The former president was speaking at an event in Rochester, New Hampshire, on Sunday when he made curious comments about forts and their renaming. “We won world wars out of forts. Fort Benning, Fort This, Fort That, many forts,” he began in a typical Trump fashion.

“They changed the name, we won wars out of these forts, they changed the name, they changed the name of the forts. A lot of people aren’t too happy about that,” Trump continued. He is believed to be referring to the nine US military institutions which were named after Confederate generals - and have since been renamed in honor of people who didn’t fight against the United States.

“They changed the name of a lot of our forts. We won two world wars out of a lot of these forts and they changed the name,” he repeated. “It’s unbelievable.” The comments prompted confusion and concern regarding Trump’s mental state, with Democrat strategist Keith Edwards saying: “Donald Trump is experiencing huge mental decline. The media has to start taking this seriously.”..............

If the spineless corporate media can't bring themselves to "pick on an old man" this way, all they have to do is publish the unedited, word-for-word transcripts of these deranged rants. A permalink at the top of MSNBC.com "Latest Trump speech" and another "Latest Biden speech". There's it's balanced.

No commentary, no "analysis" or explanation of what they meant, just the words that came out of their mouths, live on stage.

Talking about the candidates' mental decline is a real life example of that spiderman meme where they are all pointing at each other.

It really just points out how screwed we are no matter what the outcome of the election is.

Gotta disagree. Joe may not be a great orator, but he's still quite sharp. Trump is as sharp as a month-old pumpkin in the sun.

The people surrounding each would beg to differ.

We are way less screwed w Biden than Trump.
    Waaaaay.

    Joe isn't sharp at all.

That is just copium. I've been seeing quite a bit of that.

    Sure, i completely agree.

    We are screwed either way.

One option being better than the other doesn't make either option a good option.

Not sure her explanation passes the smell test:

Canada's government is preparing for the possibility that Donald Trump could reach the White House again and the “uncertainty” that would bring, Prime Minister Justin Trudeausaid Tuesday at a Cabinet retreat.

Trudeau said that Trump “represents uncertainty. We don’t know exactly what he is going to do,” but he said that his government was able to manage Trump previously by showing that Canada and the U.S. can create economic growth on both sides of the border.…..

This seems fairly obvious, doesn’t it? Shouldn’t be controversial. Yet, this does explain the insane clip I saw on Twitter of Tucker Carlson leaving a vaguely threatening voice message for Trudeau, supposedly, saying that America is coming to “liberate” Canada. God, what a complete buffoon that guy is. He’s about six months away from full Alex Jones. 🤦‍♀️

Everybody gangsta 'till the Canadian secret service shows up.

I thinks there’s an even chance he wasn’t even calling any office in Canada. Like I said this is Alex Jones shirt.

Tax cuts and pandemic relief measures enacted during the Trump administration added $8.4 trillion to the national debt over the 10-year budget window, according to a study released Wednesday by a top budget watchdog group.

Discretionary spending increases from 2018 and 2019 added $2.1 trillion, Trump’s signature Tax Cuts and Jobs Act added $1.9 trillion and the 2020 bipartisan CARES Act for pandemic relief added another $1.9 trillion, the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB), a Washington think tank, found in a study released earlier this month.

“Of the $8.4 trillion President Trump added to the debt, $3.6 trillion came from COVID relief laws and executive orders, $2.5 trillion from tax cut laws, and $2.3 trillion from spending increases, with the remaining executive orders having costs and savings that largely offset each other,” budget experts with the CRFB wrote in a summary of the report.

The only significant deficit reduction enacted by the Trump administration noted in the report was due to tariffs levied on a variety of imported goods, which are calculated to have brought in $445 billion over 10 years.

Questions about the budgetary effects of Trump’s fiscal policies have been a point of debate during the ongoing Republican primary. Both former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who dropped out of the race Sunday, have criticized the former president’s willingness to add to the deficit.............
