Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

............While tariffs have long been cornerstone of Trump’s economic policy, the market instability triggered by the president’s action could lead some to jump off the Trump train. That may be especially true for fiscal conservatives who held their noses while voting for Trump in the election, in the hopes that he’d be as stable in his approach to the economy as he was during his first term. (Then again, after the market surged in the wake of the tariff reversal, some supporters ― Ackman included ― painted Trump out to be an economic mastermind.)

Other supporters jumped off the Trump train long ago. Recently, we spoke to some of them, asking them how he gained their support to begin with, and what he did to lose it. Here’s what they had to say. (Responses have been lightly edited for clarity.)

“I am a registered Republican who actively campaigned for and voted for Trump in 2016, 2020 and 2024. I have always supported him because of his MAGA ideals. He seemed to be honest and made good on his promises to the American people during his first term. I thought he would get us out of some of the bad circumstances we as a nation have fallen into under other presidents.

Two days after I celebrated him taking office in 2025, he cut my position within the federal government. I am a 21-year federal employee who took a position last year in the Office of Equity Assurance at the VA (Veterans Affairs). In that capacity, we were working to assist underserved veteran populations within the U.S. and its territories: rural and tribal veterans, women veterans, minorities, senior veterans, homeless vets. We were working to figure out what disparities these groups face because of where they live, and trying to offer them a more equal chance at obtaining VA benefits.

Sadly, we were deemed to be DEI, and Trump signed an executive order following his inauguration which eliminated all DEI offices within the federal government. His EO technically ended our positions, but because of our tenure, veterans status, longevity, and performance status within VA, our senior leadership was planning to reassign each of us to other areas of the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) ― but Elon Musk and DOGE cancelled those reassignment plans and terminated us via Reduction in Force (RIF).

I’ve been pretty bitter ever since. I will be moving towards becoming an Independent from now on.” ― Denise, a 58-year-old from Northern Virginia

“When I supported him, I was still under 18. Back then, it was mostly because supporting him was socially popular in my area, with my family, my friends, and my community. I wasn’t educated on politics and kind of bought into the narrative that he was a successful businessman who would do great things for America. I did identify as a Republican at the time, but I don’t anymore; now, I consider myself a Social Democrat.

The final straw for me was January 6. Up until that point, I wasn’t totally convinced his policies were bad ― on paper, some things still sounded like they could work. But the extreme division in the country, which was especially clear on that day, made it obvious to me that he would never be able to implement any policy effectively. A leader who divides the country that deeply just isn’t capable of creating positive, lasting change on a national level.”Dean Withers, a 20-year-old from Colorado

“I’ve voted GOP since 1984, my first time voting. I stopped in 2020. The last straw? Trump’s misogyny. His racism. National security advisers and generals and chiefs of staff told us, ‘Don’t vote for this guy, don’t support this guy’ — one of whom, Mark Milley, a Marine and a man’s man, has said Trump is the most dangerous person he’s ever met. Mad Dog Mattis said pretty much the same thing. Rex Tillerson, Mark Esper ... this goes on and on.

Then there’s his grifting. What kind of president sells bibles, gold shoes and a $100,000 watch (that will likely never be on the market or delivered), but you can buy it through Bitcoin? That means you’re making a $100,000 donation to Trump that can’t be traced. That is the ultimate grift. His daughter and son-in-law received billions from the Saudis. His convictions, his indictments, January 6 — he encouraged a rabid insurrection and then, in real time, refused to do anything to stop it, and told us he would pardon those who did it. What kind of world is this?

My wife teaches middle school math and she says that Donald Trump could not get a job at her school, not as a teacher, or a substitute or the person serving food in the cafeteria line. And yet, almost half of our country still supports him. They’re willing to have a lower standard for the president than they would have for their own elementary or middle school staff. He’s a horrible influence. Why did I turn away from Trump? Why would anybody stick with him?” ― Danny, a 62-year-old from Texas........

As defined by one of the more popular forum members, the mythical “Undecided Voter 2024”- “Oh, you needed a much better candidate to keep me from voting for the man who will destroy the United States, because I have a death wish, and I lean towards self destruction”. The Key here is a combination living a fantasy, and despite the fact that Biden stepped aside to be replaced by an extremely strong, competent, actually patriotic candidate. But the same “undecided” voters saw a black woman and said “nope, I’m for the xenophobic, racist whose loves all things white, even if he’s corrupt as the day is long, better than that black woke woman”. 🔥😳

You seem to have a lot of trouble saying, "I agree that Trump worked to kill a bipartisan bill in order to use it as a campaign tool to bash Democrats." It's really simple.
And it’s just as simple to say the Trump Administration by abducting legal residents without due process, ie skipping the courts, kidnapping them and sending them to a foreign prison, in any responsible government is grounds for at a minimum, impeachment and conviction, and I don’t care what the corrupt Supreme Court says, he should be prosecuted and incarcerated for violating these people’s civil rights.🤬

Even after Donald Trump’s tariffs sent markets plummeting and economists expressed concern about consumer prices, the vast majority of Trump voters do not regret casting their ballots for the president.

Among a sample of people who voted for Trump, only 2 percent said they regret their vote and would vote differently if they had the chance, according to a new University of Massachusetts Amherst / YouGov poll.

In February 2017, 4 percent of people said they regretted voting for Trump.

The poll from UMass Amherst / YouGov also found that 74 percent of people who voted for Trump said they remain confident in their decision. Just 26 percent of voters said they have “some concerns” about their vote.

“President Trump still has ample opportunity to convince his voters that he was the right person for the job, but the clock is ticking and his supporters are watching to see if he can deliver,” Tatishe Nteta, a professor of political science at UMass Amherst and director of the poll said in a statement.……

    Classy and gracious as always

President Donald Trump declared during an Oval Office meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni that President Joe Biden’s tenure in office was so terrible that Jimmy Carter “died a happy man” knowing that there was someone “worse” than him.

“And then you had like the last administration, the only thing they were good at was cheating in elections,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “That‘s about all they could do. They couldn‘t do anything. They were useless. They were incompetent.”

He added: “Worst administration in the history of our country. Worse than Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter died a happy man. You know why? Because he wasn‘t the worst. President Joe Biden was.”…..

It’s tough to exit a cult. I have no hope for most Republicans. They have proven to be a lost cause. My hope is the Left leaning independents and the Democrats who were to lazy the last election to take this cancer serious have seen enough now to have woke up. We shall see.

We’re not as bright as we think we are.It might be inferred from this that as a species we really don’t deserve, better said, we have huge hurdles to overcome to succeed as a species, that is if we are not wiped out by the toxic planet we created, before getting there. 🤔

This as always is a big Fork Us. Doing what he does best, projecting himself onto other honorable leaders, smearing them with his poo. And he gets away with it because he’s propelled by low IQ MORONS and like minded co-conspirators who think we’re all low IQ morons.🤬

The stock market is plunging, prices are rising, federal workers are getting laid off, students are being snatched off the street by immigration agents. The US is many things at the moment, but stable is not one of them.

So, amid all this turmoil, how are all the Donald Trump voters feeling? Has buyer’s remorse set in?

Are they starting to wonder whether voting in a convicted felon as president – a man who has declared bankruptcy six times – might not have been the wisest move?

Not according to the polls. Rather, the US appears to be a nation of Édith Piafs: they regret rien. I’m not saying that disillusioned Republicans don’t exist; do enough digging and you can certainly find a few. And journalists have been doing a lot of digging.

During Trump’s first term, there was a steady stream of media pieces profiling the regretful Trump voter.

The genre has remained popular through the first few months of Trump 2.0.

But, according to a much-discussed segment by CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten this week, polling proves that the idea of “regretful” Trump voters is “more of a media creation than anything else”.

“I hear all these stories, all these articles, all the Trump voters, they regret what they did back in 2024. I’m here to tell you, uh-uh. Very few of them regret what they did back in 2024,” Enten said on Wednesday.…….

President Donald Trump said Thursday that he was allowing commercial fishing in one of the world’s largest ocean reserves, introducing industrial operations for the first time in more than a decade to a vast area of the Pacific dotted with coral atolls and populated by endangered sea turtles and whales.

Trump issued an executive order opening up the Pacific Islands Heritage Marine National Monument, which lies about 750 miles west of Hawaii. President George W. Bush established the monument in 2009 and President Barack Obama expanded it in 2014 to its current area of nearly 500,000 square miles.

A second executive order directed the Commerce Department to loosen regulations that “overly burden America’s commercial fishing, aquaculture, and fish processing industries.” It also asks the Interior Department to conduct a review of all marine monuments and issue recommendations about any that should be opened to commercial fishing.

“The United States should be the world’s dominant seafood leader,” Trump wrote.

The marine monument, a chain of islands and atolls amid more than 160 seamounts, is a trove of marine biodiversity. Environmentalists said opening the area to commercial fishing would pose a serious threat to the area’s fragile ecosystems.

Trump, accompanied in the Oval Office by a fisherman from American Samoa and Aumua Amata Coleman Radewagen, the territory’s delegate to the House of Representatives, said his predecessors had deprived Pacific island communities of “fertile grounds.”

“It’s so horrible and so stupid,” Trump said. “You’re talking about a massive ocean and they’re forced to go and travel four to seven days to go and fish in an area that’s not as good.” He was referring to the time it takes fishermen to travel from their home islands to fishing grounds outside the protected area.

“Thank you, President Trump,” Radewagen, a Republican, said in a statement Thursday. “This sensible proclamation is important to the stability and future of American Samoa’s economy, but it also is fantastic news for U.S. food security.”……..

And the Samoans will arrive on site in their native fishing boats to see 150f trawlers and commercial fishing vessels harvesting 90% of the fishery, leaving them EXACTLY in the spot they are now.

Having to boat 4 to 7 days to find ample fishing
