Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

Vladimir Putin has had Donald Trump’s “number for some time … knows how to manipulate him” and still sees him “as an asset”, the former White House Russia expert Fiona Hill said, discussing the Russian leader and the Republican presidential frontrunner.

“That’s literally [Putin’s] trump card,” Hill told the One Decision Podcast, hosted by the reporter Jane Ferguson and Sir Richard Dearlove, a former head of MI6, when asked if she thought the Russian president, bogged down in war in Ukraine, was betting on Trump beating Joe Biden next year and returning to power.

Hill added: “The anticipation that Trump’s going to come back is something for Putin of a boon … he can play with that. He can use it as kind of a warning … scare the Ukrainians, the Europeans, the rest of the world. Putin is pretty confident, given his experiences with Trump in the past, that Trump will be quick to try to resolve the … war in Ukraine in his favor.

“And, you know, obviously, Putin has had Trump’s number for some time, he knows how to manipulate him … he has been very good at the art of flattery with Trump. He sees Trump as an asset in many respects.”……….

Forty-two percent of likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers said that former President Trump’s recent remarks about immigrants “poisoning the blood” of the country makes them more likely to support him, according to a new poll.

The Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom poll asked likely Republican caucusgoers about statements made by the president, including Trump’s recent claim that migrants were “poisoning the blood of our country.” The remarks have been condemned by various figures on both sides of the political aisle and resulted in comparisons between the former president and Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

Twenty-eight percent of likely Iowa GOP caucusgoers said Trump’s “poisoning the blood” comments made them less likely to support him in the caucuses. Twenty-nine percent said the remark “[d]oes not matter” when it comes to their support.

The poll, conducted between Dec. 2 and 7, features responses from 502 likely Republican Iowa caucusgoers and has a maximum margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.............

Here is a pretty good thread about Trump’s myriad claims and court filings and how some of them may be at odds with each other. Like how he claimed in his fraud trial that his holdings were worth far more than even his inflated figures, and the lawyers in his E. Jean Carroll defamation case immediately pounced on that for the damages portion of their second case.

He has made more than one of these unhinged Christmas posts today.

well trump now knows that he can say anything and the idiot voters will go along and praise him for it. Thank you Iowa idiots.
Can someone help me understand the logic behind this? Why would the FBI target the Catholic Church? Under what conspiracy theory does this statement fall under?

It’s the same thing they are doing with claiming they are targeting parents. They are targeting people making threats against officials. The Republicans use it to try and claim they are targeting entire demographic groups.

I’m sure you’ll be shocked to hear it’s complete nonsense.

you need no logic you just need fear. that's all trump has and the Republican Party. Trans and gays and black and immigrants and books and so may more things are just fear mongering.

Former President Trump vowed Monday to replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with his own “much better” alternative program, reviving his push to slash the now-popular health care option used by millions of Americans.

“Obamacare is too expensive, and otherwise, not good healthcare,” Trump, the front-runner for next year’s GOP presidential nomination, wrote in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

“I will come up with a much better, and less expensive, alternative! People will be happy, not sad!”

While attacking President Obama’s signature health care law had once been a popular political message among GOP voters, the law now has significant support across the country, with 60 percent of Americans holding a favorable view of the health law.

After several failed “repeal and replace” efforts in Congress and a number of losing battles in court, Republicans have largely given up on the issue, focusing instead of issues such as the economy and crime.

Last month, Trump similarly resurfaced his criticism of the health care law, catching many GOP lawmakers off guard when pressed by reporters on his policy proposal.

Trump, facing some pressure, tried to walk back his comments, saying, “I don’t want to terminate Obamacare, I want to REPLACE IT with MUCH BETTER HEALTHCARE.”.........

Nobody should take this jibberish seriously. Any news organization that repeats Trump’s claims without pointing out that he has never once in 7 years put forth his health plan is just showing they are completely biased.

Turley has just beclowned himself, in case anyone had any doubts at all about him. lol.

It's also the same thing they are doing with New York's war on Chic-Fil-A. NY is trying to pass a bill that will require businesses that operate in the state's rest areas to be open 7 days a week, which would mean that 2 Chic-Fil-A's to open on Sunday if they want to keep their stores at those rest areas. But, the far right is framing it as a war on the rights of a company to be religious and close on Sundays, because they are trying to force Chic-Fil-A to open all of their stores on Sundays, even though that goes against the company's policy.

What's absurd is that the Catholic church is the one institution that has had a decades long issue with covering up systemic sexual abuse of children and protecting those sexual abusers. It's not all Catholics involved, but it is systemic.

Has Moms for Liberty said anything about the Catholic church? Have the various Republican patriot groups boycotted Catholic events or diocese known to have covered up child sexual abuse and protected the abusers?

Just shows they are not sincere or are completely blinded by bias in their "protect the children from sexual predators" BS.

It’s literally an international pedophile cabal operating in plain sight.
