On Tuesday, Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson won the GOP primary to become his party’s nominee for North Carolina governor, presumably with the help of female voters.
But just four years ago, Robinson said he’d “absolutely” like to return to the days when the 19th Amendment didn’t exist ― when women didn’t have the right to vote.
“I absolutely want to go back to the America where women couldn’t vote,” Robinson said in a newly resurfaced video of his remarks at a March 2020 event hosted by the Republican Women of Pitt County.

I'm offended that the man won election as Lieutenant Governor. No man with his views should ever be in any governmental office.

No woman should ever vote for this man. In fact, any woman who supports this man should not vote. They agree that they shouldn't vote if they vote for him.

Finally to him and all who want to repeal the 19th Amendment:

I agree with him, we need to find a way to send HIM back to that time! I'm certain he will love living in NC during that time.

NC will be absolutely forked for a while. They have a veto proof majority, so they can do whatever they want. The past supreme court ruled their state was unconstitutionally gerrymandered and to have maps redrawn, so the (R) waited them out, won back a (R) majority (thanks in part to a Democrat switching parties after she got elected), then replaced the judges with (R) sycophants annnnd surprise surprise THAT court ruled the maps were perfectly fine

Some of the stuff he says is vile, but some things being criticized about the Hitler and other despots is him implying that we need to know history to presumably avoid repeating it. Interestingly he claims the left are the liars, which is a Trumpist spin, but he has a slight point about some of the criticisms he's getting not taking into account the context. There isn't any context that can defend some of his homophobia, and the extreme abortion stance, but not everything he said is being cast in context. I'll add that he does plenty of his own lying, such as about his claims about the despots being communists and socialists is a wrong generalization, and he's obviously trying to associate Democrats with them. That's just an old trope that doesn't have any merit. Also, even if Hitler claimed to be a socialist to garner support, that doesn't make it so. Hitler was an evil authoritarian, not a communist nor socialist. Pol Pot was a dictator. He leaves out Putin and Orban that Republicans today love. Also, he claims to be a Republican because Republicans have done a lot of good, and that's true in the last century, but Republicans stopped doing good some time around the 1970s or perhaps you could be more generous and say it really didn't get bad until the 1990s with Gingrich. The Republican party today is nothing like the Republican party of old. The Democratic party has a bad history, but we live in the now, and in the now, the Democratic party is far and away the ones that are seeking to advance human rights.

This reminds me of the lies about Trump's very fine people remark that I've seen many here repeat.

sorry but he did say it but that was just a snippet of what he said. so as usual your argument is debunked again. your argument is exactly the same as the argument that he said it.his whole argument that republicans fought for woman's right is true but what was left out was that republicans and democrats changed sides in the 50's so your garment s pointless really.

    Yes.

Trump was calling the tiki torch protesters very fine people.

I am sorry that you are still buried under the mountain of misinformation that your media sources feed you.

I'm sorry that Greenwald and Tucker have misled you so badly.

    Try another lie.

Here he is saying he most definitely want women to not have the right to vote.

While saying that republicans are the party of freedom. Which I laughed at when I heard him say it in the video. Taking the right to vote from women isn't freedom

You need to get a better news source.

I see we are in the “He didn’t say what he most definitely said” phase concerning Robinson

Extra points for trying to pull it off when there is video of him saying these things

So Robinson is saying something that is a circular contradiction, almost like he wants to get stuck in a political time loop.

He says he would tell the person, who challenged someone else with the question of "when you say go back to when American was great again, do you mean when women couldn't vote and black people were lynched," that he would tell that person he absolutely would go back to the time when women couldn't vote and black people where lynched, but he didn't stop there and that's when he gets logically wonky.

He says he would go back to those times, because that's when the Republican party was the progressive party fighting for freedom and fighting to end racism.

I don't think he just says crap off the cuff without thinking it through. He seems to be saying he would go back to way things used to be, because that's when the Republican party was the party of freedom, equality and fighting racism.

He's either got diarrhea of the mouth or he's unintentionally admitting that the current Republican party is not the party of freedom, equality and ending racism. If the Republican party was that party today, then there wouldn't be a need to go back to the Republican party of old.

In summary, I think Robinson impulsively says crap he thinks will be a good sound byte or zinger without actually thinking. I also think he's seen way too many Arnold and Sylvester movies, because he also seems to like to throw out those super macho, too cool for school, tough guy hero, one liners.

He's all hat and no cattle. He's affectation made flesh and blood. He's basically admitted that seeking attention is his primary motivation in life. He learned on FaceBook that nothing gets attention like being a perpetual stream of hyperbolic hot air.

Our society is in trouble, because we award negative attention seekers the most which in turn encourages more mimicking of negative attention seeking. Like with the climate, I fear we've already crossed a threshold of critical mass. We're sprinting toward handing the keys to the government and society to the lunatics, and not just metaphorically.

Imagine being so wrapped up in corporate media propaganda that you are still repeating lies that have been debunked.

REPORTER: The neo-Nazis started this thing. They showed up in Charlottesville.

TRUMP: Excuse me, they didn’t put themselves down as neo-Nazis, and you had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people on both sides. You had people in that group – excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down, of to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.

    REPORTER:
George Washington and Robert E. Lee are not the same.

TRUMP: Oh no, George Washington was a slave owner. Was George Washington a slave owner? So will George Washington now lose his status? Are we going to take down – excuse me. Are we going to take down, are we going to take down statues to George Washington? How about Thomas Jefferson? What do you think of Thomas Jefferson? You like him? Okay, good. Are we going to take down his statue? He was a major slave owner. Are we going to take down his statue? You know what? It’s fine, you’re changing history, you’re changing culture, and you had people – and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally – but you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists, okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly. Now, in the other group also, you had some fine people, but you also had troublemakers and you see them come with the black outfits and with the helmets and with the baseball bats – you had a lot of bad people in the other group too.

I can't imagine. Tell me all about it.

So, it's well known and documented that the groups that organized the protest are neo-Nazi groups. That's fact. I mean, you don't march carrying torches and singing "Blood and Soil" if you aren't a neo-Nazi.

Trump may have said there were fine people on both sides, but one of those sides, it was neo-Nazis.

You could just read the transcript to see what he actually said.

    I saw it live.

I decided what he meant as i heard the words come out of his mouth.
