This is going to need a thread as we move forward - there are now clear signs that Trump supports a new, critical if not dubious approach on vaccination, and his HHS nominee RFK Jr. regularly espouses eating raw milk and raw meat . . . dietary components most experts agree are more dangerous than their heated counterparts.

Health is certainly one of those areas were anti-institutionalism and turning to popular influencers over medical science comes with genuine risk of harm.

Today Trump provided his most clear indication that he is a vaccine skeptic - claiming (falsely of course) that the USA doesn't "do as well" as other nations that use no vaccines at all.

Another snippet from RFK, Jr’s hearing. He’s lying his arse off.

The first meeting of a critical federal vaccine panel was a high-profile display of how the US health secretary and vaccine skeptic Robert F Kennedy Jrhas injected chaos into vaccine policy infrastructure.

Wednesday’s meeting was held amid controversy, not only regarding the new members unilaterally appointed by Kennedy, but also the questions they would consider, their conflicts of interest and views on vaccines, and the scheduled speakers.

The new chair of the committee, former Harvard University professor of medicine Dr Martin Kulldorff, who was fired for refusing to be vaccinated against Covid-19, began the meeting by criticizing both his former employer and the media.

“Some media outlets have been very harsh on the new members of this committee,” said Kulldorff, who he said were put into “either a pro- or anti-vaccine box”.

“Such labels undermine critical scientific inquiry and it further feeds the flames of vaccines hesitancy. As Secretary Kennedy has eloquently stated, opposing mercury in fish doesn’t make you anti-fish, and opposing mercury in vaccines doesn’t make you anti-vaccines,” Kulldorff continued, referring to one of the issues the panel would consider.……..

Obviously we are going to have to really pay attention to which drugs are approved now. And did you catch how he is talking out of both sides of his mouth? They threw a complete hissy fit about Covid vaccines, which were tested in normal but truncated ways due to the pandemic. Claimed they weren’t tested adequately and had undiscovered side effects (some of them comically stupid).

But now, he wants a stupid algorithm to decide what drugs will do in the actual body, without testing them? He’s a dangerous sociopath.

    This guy is dangerously unintelligent.

Well he's admitted, somewhat bragging, that a parasitic worm ate part of his brain, so we know for a fact the RFK Jr has brain damage. Being a Kennedy gives him an enormous sense of entitlement. Those two things are obviously dangerous combination.

This is what states will have to do, since federal agencies are under the control of anti-vax conspiracy theorists and sociopaths with eugenic tendencies.

Also, there is a fairly disgusting close up of RFK, Jr’s mouth floating around the internet - showing his little snuff packet or whatever they call it stuck between his cheek and gum, and a pretty large tartar deposit in his teeth. I won’t be posting it, because *ick*. But the hypocrisy of him telling everyone else what to do to get healthy is just so apparent. He cannot even kick his nicotine habit or perform adequate oral hygiene himself.

the whole I thing is going to be bad since they don't know what the forkthewy are doing and it's all rushed and brainworm is about as smart as trump.

Fantastic. Rushed through drug approvals by AI and RFK Jr., a man with zero medical training but lots of opinions. Meanwhile, real, tested treatments get sidelined. Innocent people will be harmed—or die—because of this imbecile.

I always thought one of the arguments was not enough testing on drugs?

Exactly! The real drugs—you know, the ones pharmaceutical companies spend years researching and thoroughly testing—face endless scrutiny. Meanwhile, the snake oil gets fast-tracked because an AI guessed it’s “probably safe.” What could possibly go wrong?

This was the closest topic I could find for this. A friend of mine wrote an article for Times Picayune/nola.com about pioneering women doctors who defied social norms to practice in New Orleans and open their own clinic in the early 1900's.

This is a gift link for a few days for anyone who's interested.
