Kamala Harris is interviewed for 31 minutes on Face the Nation, video and transcript at the link.

The effect was a wide ranging administration policy statement one year into their term in office. It was like Joe Biden was in the room, but he wasn't in the room.

    Harris was Presidential.

Because she is a formidable candidate. She's from my state and I've been watching her for years.

When she ran early in the primary and then dropped out that wasn't an actual attempt, she was working with Biden then. When she attacked him about the busing issue that was done to help him, not to hurt him. He'd already picked her for VP by then, assuming that by working together they could win that nomination. They did and they did.

She assisted him by dealing with that issue. It was an issue that was going to come up, she gave him early friendly fire rather than have that be enemy fire later on when it would have mattered, and it worked.

As soon as she did that I went from thinking that they might possibly be working together to knowing that they were working together. From that point forward I knew she was the VP candidate, that was months before he "picked" her.

She plays bad cop to Biden's good cop now. You haven't seen her as a lead candidate yet. But I've seen her as a lead candidate, winning two statewide elections in a state with the population comparable to England, France, or Germany.

If she runs for president on her own you will see her move into the lead candidate role, I expect Biden will assist her in that, as she has assisted him.

    As will Obama... .
I dunno... I think this is a skewed perception perhaps attributable to you being in California where she is actually viewed as somewhat conservative relative to other Democrats. This is assuredly not the perception of her in other parts of the nation, particularly middle-America where it counts the most. She is Hillary 2.0 in the making. I don't know if the Democrats can muster anyone that would win in 2024 but I know it's definitely not her.

I don't understand this odd ball Sowell bit you threw about Harris becoming "Hillery 2.0 in the making." It makes no sense at all.

What that "Hillery 2.0" bit was about was Thomas Sowell wrote a commentary titled "Hillery 2.0" years ago, in which he coined the concept and phrase that when Clinton said "What difference, at this point, does it make?" She had gone from being "Hillery 1.0" to "Hillery 2.0.

That "What difference, at this point, does it make?" had replaced her always having said that this was old news, that it was "time to move on." Which Sowell claimed had been her go to for stalling and stonewalling since the Whitewater investigations eons before.

I was able to find it:

What I'm wondering is does this photo focus into to this double entendre "2.0" you say "particularly matters in middle-America where it counts the most"?

Clear your mind and look at that photo, and answer does it "explain" what this is all about?

Had no idea Sowell coined that term (and I have a pretty low opinion on him, anyway). I just used it on my own volition. It's more about the hubris of the DNC elite thinking their chosen candidate is going to waltz into the White House. They were dead wrong about it in 2016 and their hubris resulted in a President that utterly scorched the landscape of political discourse. An injury from which this country will never recover.

I also have no idea what I'm suppose to take from that photo. Peloton mom? To win Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan you need someone who can appeal to blue-collar voters. Harris does not have that and she never will. Maybe part of it is racism. Maybe part of it is misogyny. I have no idea. But I know what the result will be if she is the nominee. We've seen it before. We also saw Biden barely squeak out a win against a maniacal narcissist.

Obama as a campaigner is borderline useless. The political landscape is drastically different since the time he won elections (he's said so himself). And it's far easier to campaign against guys like John McCain and Mitt Romney -- both of high moral character who played by the rules of civil discourse.

You showed me what you got from that photo when two lines down you wrote, "Maybe part of it is misogyny."

Maybe all of it is misogyny.

Maybe it is. I'm more interested in the Democrats fielding a winner (assuming the GOP nominates either Trump or a proxy just as horrific) than addressing social problems. You should be, too, unless you look forward to an autocracy and a United States Supreme Court with a 9-0 right-wing composition, never mind the rest of the federal judiciary. At that point, it's over.

Imagine if the DNC elite didn't have super-delegates and they swallowed their pride and Sanders handily beat Trump in the key states that mattered. Imagine a +3 swing in the Supreme Court. Imagine a world where the horrible divisive rhetoric of Trump was not as widespread embraced as it is now. We could have had that world were it not for Hillary's pride.

You know my mom is 87 years old. One thing she's asked for for as long as I can remember is she would like it see a women, it doesn't have to be her, any other women to be elected President.

    Did I mention she's 87?

    I'm more interested in that.

I'm not. I would much rather the DNP help the common American's lives instead of grandstanding about "girl boss". I could careless if the next president is a man, or a woman, but if that's your main qualifier. You're an idiot.

P.S. I swear to god. I'm talking to Paul all over again.

I think I've made it pretty clear that my main qualifier is I think she's outstanding. From my side your strong opinion appears is just an opinion. Everyone has one.

We'll have a 50 state vote-a-rama in 2024 to settle it. Winner takes all.

    What's this about Paul?

Sadly, competence takes a massive backseat to charisma these days and Kamala ain't got it. The VP role is her audition for the big chair and she hasn't done anything to distinguish herself or endear herself to the public.
She still has some time to turn it around, but she needs to get active, be visible and be charming.

I was watching the Biden press conference. At about one hour and 5 minutes in he was asked if he was satisfied with Harris' work on the voting rights issue and would be commit to running with her for reelection.

He quickly said "yes and yes."

His questioner surprised, (flabbergasted), by his direct answer asked if he would care to expand.

He said he answered both questions, "yes and yes" and added that insofar as her work on voting rights that he thought she is doing a good job.

    Full stop... .

    Love it!

remember the good ol' days when spelling the word potato wrong could derail your entire political career

YouTube remembers it. Which is funny because it happened before YouTube was born.

It was even before decent picture and sound quality.

It's a sweet thought but ignores the forest for the trees.

Prior to my saying that I didn't see a forest of trees being well described.

What I saw was a scenario being sketched inside of a hazy crystal ball which was portend to warn me of the future if I didn't change my course.

Maybe some hopeful news for Honduras and immigration and the efforts/role of our much maligned Vice-President in that.

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — As Vice President Harris attended the presidential inauguration of Xiomara Castro in Honduras on Thursday, the White House hoped it would display much more than a show of support during a historic meeting of female “firsts.”

“Looking forward to this partnership,” Harris told Castro during a meeting Thursday afternoon, as she announced new U.S.-supplied vaccines for the country.
In Castro, the first woman to lead Honduras, the administration believes America has found an ally who will help stem corruption in a region rife with government abuse and unethical excess. Stanching graft, advisers to Harris say, is a pivotal step to improve the lives of Hondurans, and to give them a reason to stay in their home country instead of making a dangerous trip in search of a better life in the United States.

But Harris’s attendance at the inauguration Thursday also provided a potent image of change in both countries. Harris, the first female vice president of the United States, stood to the side of the stage as Castro, the first female president of Honduras, delivered her inaugural address.
Harris traveled with all the trappings of a head of state — a ceremonial military escort, a red carpet rolled to the door of her helicopter, and a receiving line of Honduran officials — although she arrived late at the inauguration due to what a White House official said was “to allow motorcade routes to be cleared.”
When she was introduced at the inauguration, just after Castro was officially sworn in, there were loud cheers and a chant of “Viva Honduras!” as she waved to the crowd.

And she listened intently as Castro detailed hopeful plans for the country, including battling corruption, fighting narcotics traffickers and reducing poverty.

At a bilateral meeting with Castro in the afternoon, Harris said the Biden administration would be sending several hundred thousand more doses of coronavirus vaccines over the next two months. It would also supply 500,000 pediatric syringes and more than $1.3 million to help health and educational facilities.
The United States will also provide an additional $500,000 to support the Honduras government’s coronavirus vaccine and biosafety communications campaign and to strengthen vaccine deployment.

“I’d like to publicly congratulate you on your election. We’ve been watching the election process closely,” Harris said. “We appreciate that your election was a democratic election.”
According to the vice president’s office, they also discussed cooperation on a range of other issues, including “addressing the root causes of migration, combating corruption, and expanding economic opportunity.” Harris said she welcomed Castro’s focus on countering corruption, and they discussed their shared concerns with gender-based violence in Honduras.

Harris also said that the United States would send a senior-level trade mission and business delegation to generate business opportunities in Honduras.

The trip was Harris’s second to the Northern Triangle region of Central America since President Biden asked her to lead the administration’s efforts to attack the root causes of migration from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, a complex and politically volatile issue that has bedeviled generations of political leaders.

She’s not the light weight idiot folks are making her out to be. She’s also not the commie Farb thinks she is.

She's neither of those. But she has little charisma and won't play well in the Rust Belt. Never mind being attached to what has been a fairly mediocre Biden administration.
