Apparently in a pre-trial conference in London in advance of his extradition hearing, Assange's lawyer indicated that the defense would put on evidence that former congressman Dana Rohrabacher offered Assange a pardon if he made a statement that Russia was not the source of the DNC hack.

This is being reported by court observers, not opinion journalists . . . so it appears credible, at least to the extent that the Assange team thinks they have evidence of this that they intend to use at trial (not sure of what purpose).

Whether it actually happened, of course, is unclear - nor is it clear that if indeed it happened, it was with Trump's blessing.

Classic example - was Madoff pardoned? Why not wait till it happens before getting outraged and acting as if it has happened.

As far as "am I ok" with it. Not sure what you mean. I wouldn't do it, but I am not going to act like this is some sort of unprecedented abuse of power. Many Presidents have pardoned and commuted sentences that I would not have done.

    My apologies. I meant Milkin.

I just read he cut a plea deal and will be set free
Under the pact detailed in court filings made public Monday evening, he would be sentenced to just over five years in prison — but would be entitled to immediate release because that’s roughly how long he’s been jailed in England while fighting extradition to the U.S.

It's great news that Assange is finally free. Unfortunately he had to plead guilty to the espionage charge to get the plea deal, but I don't blame him since he's free now.

The Espionage charge was total BS anyway because it isn't a crime to publish classified information which journalists do all the time.

These are the real reasons why the US wanted Assange dead or in jail.

Assigned lifted no such veil. He did what he did for his own ego.

So, basically, he ended up supporting Putin much like you do.

    Why do you hate America?

Why are you trying so hard to turn this guy into some kind of living martyr? Nobody cares about this guy.
Nobody who gets their news from the corporate media cares about Assange.

People who care about freedom of the press and exposing the military industrial complex and the forever wars movement like Assange.

What kind of deranged people think it's okay to kill or prosecute a journalist because he exposes their government secrets?

"But the corporate media and the government told us Assange isn't a journalist!"

What I've read of Assange is that he is basically a self-righteous scumbag. I'm glad that he released the Apache killings, because that seemed to reveal a military crime, but then Assange went rogue. He's lucky that he wasn't convicted for rape by Sweden. The publishing of Clinton's emails was just helping Russia, and even Mike Pompeo said he was a Russian state actor, and Assange is suspected of hiring the computer hackers. While there may have been a few military abuses and even crimes that he revealed, the indiscriminate publishing of U.S. secrets endangered many lives that we won't know about. The publishing of our agents was despicable.

Both Hillary and Pompeo wanted to assassinated Assange. They are both deranged. (and here's a corporate media article to support the things I say)

Assange is a scumbag who took hacked material from either Russian intelligence or someone who got it from Russian intelligence. To cover his own arse he lied about Seth Rich, putting his family through hell by his lies.

Assange also directed hacking efforts. He’s no journalist, he’s a Russian cutout. He should be in jail.

Assange didn't operate as a journalist through WikiLeaks. He simply took the material from a leaked source and published it all.

Before you reply back, think about what's the difference between Assanage, and your personal twitter hero Glenn Greenwald? Greenwald has come to America freely, and without issue.

Why did Snowden refuse to work with Assange?

I'm surprised the plea was for time served. That was very lenient to say the least

It's crazy how drones make assassination sound more palatable.

Assange's hacking background, possible hacking aid to Manning, DNC leaked emails, and Seth Rich conspiracy theory suggests he should not be viewed as a journalist. Hackavist who likely conspired to with Manning, was a useful tool of Russia, and should have served at least some time in a US prison is my take.
