(CNN)A lawyer for an indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani tells CNN that his client is willing to tell Congress about meetings the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee had in Vienna last year with a former Ukrainian prosecutor to discuss digging up dirt on Joe Biden.
The attorney, Joseph A. Bondy, represents Lev Parnas, the recently indicted Soviet-born American who worked with Giuliani to push claims of Democratic corruption in Ukraine. Bondy said that Parnas was told directly by the former Ukrainian official that he met last year in Vienna with Rep. Devin Nunes.
"Mr. Parnas learned from former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Victor Shokin that Nunes had met with Shokin in Vienna last December," said Bondy.
I didn't want to lump this in with the big impeachment/Ukraine thread.
Two interesting notes in this story, to me.
1. Parnas was working with Giuliani to push claims about Democratic corruption in Ukraine. So, they were actively pushing the 'fake news'.
2. Nunes may have been in on it? So, why was he doing his own "investigation"? This might explain why he consistently wants to bring up the debunked rumors about Ukrainian interference.
That quote of his saying when the "facts are against you, rig the game and hope your audience is too stupid to catch your duplicity." Might be used against him.
Now, could this just be a guy about to be convicted of various things just grasping as straws to get leniency? Or is this something for real? We shall see..
