Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

So the microphone couldn't take his BS, and quit. What a wise microphone.

Why did I immediately think he was looking at a couch somewhere in the crowd and thinking "Hey, good looking, we'll be back to pick you up later".....

Kamala is the gift that keeps on giving...

Why don't you want less AR-15 and assault rifles in the hands of Americans? Don't you care about our kids and their future? Are you a "childless cat lady" who has no stake in the future of the children of this country? Surely you recognize that they're being slaughtered in classrooms and public settings with these assault rifles by Americans who legally own those guns or get them stolen by their kids.

Less assault rifles on the streets of America would be a great thing. If that takes a national gun buyback program, I'm all for it.

Ohh that’s right. I did forget him. I need to go back and reread it. Such a good book. And I love the anecdote that it was written by a dad just telling his kids a story on long road trips.
Just listened to audiobook again recently

    It is a fantastic book

I like the 70s movie too

Never did see the Netflix series from a few years ago

    This is all Sinclair.

An article on who owns them, and the influence they have over local media.

Do you know who owns CNN? John Malone.

Want to know his personal politics? You can find him here under leadership for Cato Institute

The mesage resonates because Trump is old, and weird.

Trump tries to pretend to be this billionaire conserative populist. The only thing he has in common with a normal guy is he cheats at golf, and eats way to much fast food.

I've met John Malone. He is conservative in the old way. I met him when we were selling off my grandfather's ranch to him. He's both good and bad all rolled into one.

Very personable though, a nice guy with two feet planted firmly on the ground.

    ...

You're a very disingenuous political arguer who likes to throw a ton of shirt at the wall to see what will stick and then bail when called out on it. It's weird behavior and very typical of Trump cultists. I find it quite entertaining to see you get ridiculed and owned daily.
He's a good indicator of current GOP talking points. For example, he's not talking about the Biden "coup" anymore because that wasn't sticking with anyone outside MAGA.

But he has her at only 38% chance of winning the election.

Nate Silver has updated Harris’ chance of victory from 38% to 43%.

I'm convinced that he's working for some American Troll Farm funded by a Republican billionaire. They have them in Russia and other authoritarian countries, so it makes since that Republicans would copy it here.

There's no way he comes up with all of those obscure wall tweets that he post that nobody follows. He's also always perfectly on message. ALWAYS! He seems determined (but failing) to try and create the impression among the users of this site that Harris is a failed candidate and that the energy and enthusiasm behind her is only media created.

Did you hear the report yesterday about the knife attack in England? 2 were killed. If that attack had been with an AR, there would’ve been many more killed. That’s what differentiates America. Our mass killings are number 1!

Nate Silver is back to number crunching largely in keeping with my standards. I've always known that politically he was from the otherside of the fence. Worse yet he leans Libertarian.

Anyway I see movement where there ought to be movement under his analisis, so I'm inclined to think that the real authentic math nerd Silver is back at his desk doing what he ought to do.

What has been two parallel lines on a wide graph extending back for years are converging, that's a good for us convergence. It also shows very clearly that the Criminal got a slight convention bump from Kennedys base support level, Biden at the time and Harris also got some Kennedy support.

However having Silver back at his desk doesn't fix the fact that the currently active pollsters have been for the most producing herd numbers and that is very obvious at a glance because of those results being unbelievably consistent, not enough random variation showing amoung that herd to meet the minimum expected variance, which the natural laws demand there be.

In other words, cooked books will look too consistent to be believable as anything but what they are, pollsters acting as a herd. In other words adjusted numbers.

Oddly enough I would put more stock in the Fox pollster insofar as not being amoung the herd, than the so called university pollster bovine herd, YouGov, Spidermonkey, and Morning Consult daily moo cow herd.

I’m waiting for him to say you people.
Oh he wouldn't dare do that, he would know that I would post his Monster University class photo on his truthy site:

All those You People smiling and waving back at him from his past would cause a short circuit. Most likely cause... that, not for sure.

Trump agreed to appear at a conference for black journalists and be interviewed. It’s going about as expected:

I think it's going worse, much, much worse. This is how it started. His next step was to go with the racist, "Harris turned black.". That's a ship sinking straight to the deepest depths of the ocean right there.

    =============
Former President Donald Trump, during a question-and-answer panel at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in Chicago Wednesday, called a question about his history of making offensive comments about his Black opponents a “very nasty question” and a “rude introduction.”

Responding to a question from ABC’s Rachel Scott about why Black voters should trust him given his past racist comments about members of Congress and political rivals like Nikki Haley and Barack Obama, and his past flirtation with racist elements of his MAGA movement, Trump responded: “Well, first of all I don’t think I’ve ever been asked a question so, in such a horrible manner. The first question.”

“You don’t even say, ‘Hello, how are you?’ Are you with ABC? I think they’re a fake news network, a terrible network. And I think its disgraceful that I came here in good spirit. I love the Black population of this country. I have done so much for the Black population of this country,” he said.

His comments come as the organization on Tuesday drew a torrent of criticism over its decision to invite Trump to sit for an interview, with some of its most prominent members publicly expressing dismay.

Trump, after listing policies he said helped Black Americans, called the question a “very rude introduction.”

“I was invited here and I was told my opponent — whether it was [President Joe] Biden or it was [Vice President] Kamala [Harris] — I was told my opponent was going to be here. It turned out my opponent isn’t here. You invited me under false pretenses,” he said.
