Disclosure: I stole this thread title from an old EE thread. Nobody goes to that board so we shall start a new one here. This doesn’t have to be political, I don’t think, if the mods will allow it. But we may start up a political discussion based on entries.

I just saw this one today. I don’t know how people this stupid can breathe, or drive a car even.

Cereals are as much a legitimate food just as much as bananas, fruits, canned beans, Rib-eyes or other "mainstream" food stuffs. No reason why we have to be a bit elitist and contempous in how if affects our responses to these kinds of threads, even if their hyper-commercialized cereal brand. That's just how capitalism works and I'd rather have it then what El Presidente Hugo Chavez did to a once-prosperous economy, functional democracy, and how it turned into the Zimbabwe of South America along with his, "Socialism of the 21st century" demagoguery sophistry.

Same way Gap jeans are still clothes in the same way as secondhand hand-me-downs just a lot more expensive and inaccessible.

Corn flakes and fruit loops aren’t the same thing.

Not being elitist. I have fruit loops in my home right now. Didn’t mean to offend you.

So are you saying that Christmas trees are some sort of uniquely Christian symbol?

If you are, I disagree. They are common in all sorts of households, and are more of a secular convention. There is no deep Christian symbolism, that I can see.

According to the article I read they are very popular in Japan.

I think he was saying they are now and weren't 2000 years ago, but times change. And, for what it's worth, it was an interesting post.

Speaking as someone who likes Fruit Loops imo they meet the dictionary definition of food at best.

This reminds me of where a rapist‘s family is given specific rights to any children that are the products of his rapes. I cannot remember which state, and it may be several now that women are being denied abortions when they get pregnant due to rape. But I do remember reading that recently was put into a law in some state.

This is what will happen more and more as the religious right gets sway - they will always side with the man, and especially so if the man has connections or is prominent in any way. Just look at how men who abuse children and women in various churches are/have been protected.

I welcome anyone to defend this facepalm worthy woman. Theres crazy, theres uneducated, then there is just plain moronic. She 100% fits in the moronic catagory. She just goes on these weird rants that seem impossble to make up.. The newest:

Air Canada, get this, has ordered 30 electric airplanes…I mean, it shouldn’t surprise you, look who’s the president of — I mean, Justin Trudeau, right?” she told a crowd at the Texas Youth Summit.
It goes without saying, but Justin Trudeau is not affiliated with Air Canada.
Then she really went off the rails, comparing electric planes to… slave ships?
“We were talking, how is there an electric airplane and what does that look like?” she said. “Remember back a long time ago when you’ve seen movies where people in those slave ships and, they’re down there and they’re rowing, and they’re being whipped to row?”
We’re saying, how are they gonna keep powering these electric airplanes, what are they gonna have, it’s like a spin class in a tube? Where they’ve got everybody riding spin cycles, and those mean nasty airline stewardesses that forced you to wear masks all the time on the plane…are they gonna be forcing you to like keep spinning to keep the airplane in the air? It’s absurd!”

How does Empty Greene manage to dress herself in the morning?

The group - including the sisters who were in their 40s - had no outdoor survival experience and had watched online videos to learn about how to survive in Colorado's rugged backcountry, Mrs Jara told US media

    Chris McCandless says hi.

none of those videos told them not to start so close to winter? that seems like a move to make in the spring...

    I am from Colorado.

We have a term for that: it's called thinning the herd.

Experienced woodsman who spend years learning how to survive in the elements (typically first in the military/ special ops) wouldnt try to live in that part of the state during the winter. It snows tens of feet in a single storm. The temp is consistently below freezing. Foraging!?! For what? There is nothing to forage at 9500' in the winter. It is 10 degrees Fahrenheit and right at timberline.

They would have had a better chance if they would have just shot themselves
