No it's not. There is no way to know election results immediately after the election concludes. There will always be a lag time. Different time zones alone make that a perpetual truth regardless of any changes to the voting system.

It's a direct product of this lack of a patience and/or a logistical understanding of what it takes to protect the integrity and accuracy of the process and just how important it is to do that.

When it comes to elections, we as a society need to check our demand for instant gratification.

ETA: The other thing the reporting is a product of is our society's tendency for entertainment by conflict. Everyone reports the counting this way, because it creates a false sense of an active ongoing conflict, even though the decision has already been made. We don't simply want a no nonsense updating on the vote count. We want the melodrama of an active political tug of war.

My problem isn't really so much with the lack of immediacy. My problem is with not having a system that can efficiently get votes counted in a safe and secure manner that preserved the integrity of the votes using modern technology. The technology and resources are there to have the outcomes determined in a very short period of time.

Just as a quick example. While this is apples and peanuts, I think it illustrates my point. When I was a minister, during our district conference, for electing officials, we used electronic voting that gave us results within seconds after the votes were cast. I think doing secure electronic voting would be far more efficient. Instead, what's happening now is Trump is playing on people's feeling and using this lag to get people riled up. If we had this resolved, I think we'd be having a different conversation.

I think it's well past time that we take a long hard look at how we do voting. But that's just me.

As of 3:27PM, it is now a 98k lead for Trump in Penn, with 534k votes remaining. So Biden got about 10k of the last 15k votes. That's just a little over what Biden needs to overtake Trump. He needs 59.3% of the remaining votes. The last drop was only about 67%.

As of 3:27PM, it is now a 98k lead for Trump in Penn, with 534k votes remaining. So Biden got about 10k of the last 15k votes. That's just a little over what Biden needs to overtake Trump. He needs 59.3% of the remaining votes. The last drop was only about 67%.

He is also getting 9 to 1 votes in the Philly area. I believe there are between 70-100k outstanding votes in Philly. He will likely win by 100K votes at this rate.

If 90 percent of the remaining ballots are from Clark County, Nevada should be projected for Biden, IMO.

SoS of Nevada reported 90% of the remaining 190k votes in Nevada are Clark County.

I think the AP and Fox would call Nevada (which would then be calling the electoral college for Biden) if they had more faith in their previous call for Arizona.
