They have to know this State Legislature strategy can't work this late in the game, but I'm starting to wonder if there isn't a longer-term nefarious plan afoot.

We all know that rural-urban America split along with gerrymandering makes it almost impossible for Democrats to control a majority of state legislators in a lot of states, including some battleground states, and one big one in Texas. I'm wondering if the plan here isn't to create a way to validate a wave of red-state legislators to pass legislation that actually does allow them to ignore the popular vote in their state in cases of "fraud". Since it would likely face Supreme Court challenges they need time to get it done.

Could this be the strategy to defeat America's changing demographics, to enable state legislators to effectively ignore the popular vote in their state?
I think that as long as an elected state legislature enacted changes to their state election system that would allow the legislature to consider the popular vote only advisory and subject to their ratification, they could do it and it wouldn't violate the Constitution.

But I think it would be political suicide. Opponents to such a brazen stripping of constituent rights to elect the president would capitalize on that and defeat (eventually).

According to this, California has already certified their results.

I think under the federal "safe harbor" law, they're all supposed to be certified by yesterday. I think the Cook Report tracker is late sometimes, like 24 hours even.

It was interesting yesterday watching the tweets from the National Archives as each Certificate of Ascertainment rolled in from the various states.

ETA: might be a good idea to track the Archives as well as they as posting everything, including the Electoral College results there.

Looks like only Wisconsin missed the 'safe harbor' date. But that doesn't mean their electors don't vote in accordance with the election result by state law. It only gives Congress more room to challenge them - but it won't be sustained, as that thread demonstrates.
