Figured we should start a separate thread on the arrests and those involved in the storming of the Capitol. I know it has been talked about in the other thread a lot, but for the ones who just want to follow the ones arrested and/or charged, this will be an easier way to see updates on the investigations.

Link below is everyone who has been arrested. But we know there will be more.

The website seems to be updated with new information daily.

The ones who are getting the most air time:

Actually, that would be an attempted coup; far more serious than an insurrection. Now then.. which member of the mob was the one who was going to be 'inserted' into the post ?
An insurrection is: an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government. I think the definition fits. I’m good with either.

How about the lying, narcissistic maniac that incited the insurrection/coup in the first place. You know that guy that told them to march to the Capital and fight and he would march with them....then didn't but watched it on TV....gleefully.....that guy....

Sorry I typically don't respond to trolls but couldn't resist here....

An Army reservist charged with storming the US Capitol was a well-known White supremacist and Nazi sympathizer at the Navy base where he worked as a contractor, and was even rebuked for sporting a distinctive "Hitler mustache," prosecutors said in new court filings.
Federal prosecutors revealed Friday that the Navy conducted its own internal investigation into Timothy Hale-Cusanelli that uncovered numerous incidents where he promoted racist and sexist views. The Naval Criminal Investigation Service interviewed 44 of his colleagues and 34 of them said he held "extremist or radical views pertaining to the Jewish people, minorities and women."
Hale-Cusanelli, 30, was charged with seven criminal counts, including obstructing congressional proceedings, civil disorder and disorderly conduct in the Capitol. He hasn't yet entered a plea.
His defense attorney declined to comment Sunday about the new details of the Navy's probe, but has noted in court filings that Hale-Cusanelli maintains that he isn't a White supremacist.

He's an example of how free speech actually works. He's been reported to his supervisors several times by several coworkers about his abhorrent speech and yet he maintained his job and security clearance, because before Jan 6, he was all talk and no action.

He shouldn't worry too much though, I'm sure Sen Johnson, and the rest of the Sedition Caucus, will come to his aid.

Running into red tape and political slowdown
    ===================

Momentum is stalling amid congressional efforts to swiftly investigate the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, threatened by logistical delays and deepening partisan disagreement about the scope of an independent inquiry advocated by Democrats.

After initial House and Senate hearings that scrutinized law enforcement and intelligence failures leading up to the insurrection, the pace of such public sessions has slowed to a halt, as lawmakers struggle to determine their next investigative steps. Meanwhile, a fight between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her Republican counterparts over the scope of a Sept. 11-style commission has intensified this week after she announced her plan for how it should be structured.

Now, a looming congressional recess is expected to delay resolution on both fronts until mid-April at the soonest — a pause that threatens to undermine the momentum and spirit of cooperation Democrats and Republicans had exhibited immediately after the riot.

In a letter to fellow lawmakers Monday, Pelosi stressed urgency, writing that “we must get to the truth of how the January 6 assault happened, and we must ensure that it cannot happen again.” But the speaker acknowledged that “it is essential that we proceed in a bipartisan way in order to have a respected outcome.”

Rigid political head winds have formed in the weeks since hundreds of demonstrators, a mob summoned to D.C. by President Donald Trump and his supporters, stormed the Capitol in a deadly and failed bid to stop Congress’s certification of the 2020 presidential election. Most Democrats and Republicans, having embraced a spirit of bipartisanship as they grappled with shock from the attack, have returned to their political trenches to argue about Trump’s second impeachment and trial, and heightened security at the Capitol.

Those disputes have cast a pall over leaders’ vow to investigate the insurrection and its significance in the greater context of how the United States responds to such homegrown threats................

The Justice Department has charged two men in the assault on Brian D. Sicknick, a Capitol Police officer who died the day after he fought rioters storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the case and court documents.

The F.B.I. on Sunday arrested George Pierre Tanios, 39, of West Virginia and Julian Elie Khater, 32, of Pennsylvania on charges of assaulting officers, including Officer Sicknick, with a chemical spray. Mr. Khater was arrested in New Jersey.............

For weeks we were told that he died from Trump supporters bashing his skull in with a fire extinguisher.

And when new information came out those reports were amended. It's almost like this is a developing case where the public isn't privy to all facets all at once.

But yeah, the method of the officer's death is what we should really be focusing on. Those Trump supporters didn't bash his skull in till he died, they just sprayed him with enough bear mace that he died! Totally fine!

Proud boys being charged with conspiracy. The goal was to block Congress from certifying Biden’s win. Over 300 people have been charged.

I have always wondered how severe the charges would end up being. Initial charges seemed light to me, but I assumed that additional charges could be added later. The fact that conspiracy charges have been brought against some of the participants leads me to believe that prosecutors think that the evidence is solid and they can get convictions. This will go on for years in the courts.

The Feds are very calculating about the charges they bring, and their conviction rate shows it (95%, I believe). When they indict, they are confident the charges they bring will either force a plea - where most indictments lead to - or will be accepted beyond reasonable doubt by a jury.

We (or some of us, at least :hihi: )may want to see the forkers hung for sedition/treason, but I can live with conspiracy convictions and jail time for them.

I don't think we are going to see a lot of leniency for those convicted of the more serious charges. Mom and Pop that showed up at Trump's urging and didn't commit any provable destruction may get off with a slap on the wrist for criminal trespassing. After all, they were just there for the party and can claim gross stupidity. IMO, the most serious charges could bring the maximum allowable penalties.

I think it’s important to point out that even the guy who unironically dresses up like freaking Hitler doesn’t think he’s a racist.

So forgive me for disagreeing when some of you around here say you’re not a racist.

It's not regular bear spray they had in that container either. Last I read, it's a chemical they couldn't easily identify but from its components could tell it's some nasty shirt.

And, yeah, so he died from the chemicals and not just getting hit in the head with a fire extinguisher. Yay! Both are brutal.

Well, according to the modern Wokeabulary, anyone who says they are not a racist IS by definition a racist. Providing they are white, of course !

My wife's Uncle was one of the most racists people i knew. He used the N word, he called all Asians Chinamen, put his foot in his mouth once when he was making fun of Puerto Ricans when i told him my family was from Puerto Rico. But that didn't stop him from helping anyone. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone, wouldn't matter the race. He did a lot of donating and charitable work. After the big flood in 2017 in the BR area, he helped a lot of people, race wasn't a factor. BUT, just because he helped indiscriminately, didn't mean he saw everyone as equals. He thought white people were better than every other race, and he acted like that socially.
But he did NOT consider himself racist.

Got caught cheating via Capitol Riot investigation.. lol
A police detective filed for divorce from his wife after she was photographed with another man at the Capitol riot

Det. Michael Heinl is not part of the investigation, and his chief said he asked his wife not to go.
the FBI said that it also looked at Facebook Messenger exchanges between Heinl and Greyson, where they discussed their plans to travel to Washington, DC, including renting a vehicle and a hotel.
She said that she and Grayson then fell out of touch - that she had travelled to the rally alone and stayed in a separate hotel from Grayson - but that she saw Grayson at the pro-Trump rally
