Biden stepping down - now what? (2 Viewers)

A seasoned political person on Twitter was musing today - she has been flawless throughout this horrible mess. Absolutely not one misstep, and as he put it, she is in a field of land mines. I have also read from other political types that she has really grown during her 4 years as VP.

I’m not sure there are better options for this moment in time, with Roe on the ballot.
This is not the same Kamala Harris who ran for president in 2020 and dropped out before the first caucus and primary.

Three years under Biden has served her well.

This changes the race completely imo. The Democratic Convention, an open convention, will get the energy back into this election cycle. If the candidates ultimately galvanize behind the nominee, game on.

This could very well be what was needed to get people talking and involved again. Reinvigorate the electorate.

It's not going to hurt, in fact, I believe the Rs are quietly thinking among themselves that this will be a real problem for them

Lets hope the media treats him the same way they did with Biden, blasting that 24/7
I will believe that when I see it. He did something completely horrible at the RNC during his speech, where he called Pelosi crazy while making three hammer strike motions with his one hand as if he was holding a hammer. He knew what he was doing, IMO. The speech was also almost unintelligible at various points. Yet, the media never mentioned the call back to the hammer attack on Paul Pelosi and never called out his garbled mess of a speech either.

Weren’t the Dems doing this same thing to Harris about 2 years ago? Saying she was weak and they needed a new running mate for Biden?

Hey, what were the R's, specifically the orange jesus doing about Pence? That's right, threatening to hang him with his family in tow at the capital.....both sides BS that you spew is garbage....

    Speaking of elites

I take nothing away from those who wanted Biden to stay in. Everyone here was acting in good faith, under difficult conditions. But the voters were clear all along — they were just being denied a real choice of candidates or real information about Biden's capacity to campaign. The debate broke that, and that fractured the unity of the elites, and moved more of them towards the position that voters had long held.

Which states are considered a tossup/purple? Maybe the VP pick should come from a 'purple' state, to possibly help tilt votes in their favor? (I don't know if that kind of strategy actually works)

The RNC averaged 19M views and Trump got 25M for his speech. This last minute lineup change is going drive viewership. Watch the DNC average 25M views and Harris get 35M for her speech. Young Dems are going to see the spotlight. This will get people excited about the future of the Dem party.
