Right. just look at the news 30 mins after the story broke. You had CNN telling the world that Trump fell, while X/Twitter were saying that Trump was shot.

If so, they don’t seem to agree. He got a higher percentage of Hispanic votes than every republican since Nixon other than Reagan and W. And he will likely pass them this time.

NYT poll two weeks ago had Biden at 47% and Trump 46% among Hispanics.

As for republican history….Trump got 32% in 2020. McCain got 31, Romney 27, Dole 21, Ford 18.

Reagan and W were 35%. Actually Reagan went up to 37% in 84 and W went up to 40 in 04. I think Trump definitely gets in the 35-40% range this time. Maybe better.

He actually does pretty well with that demographic for a republican.

Me too. I was a freshman in high school when Hinckley shot Reagan and there was a lot of rhetorical vitriol back then too. We got through that without blowing up.

If this does blow us up as a country, then it will be because Trump and his fascists use it to blow up the country. The thing is, they need our cooperation to do that and I don't think we'll be obliging them.

My expectation is that for a week or two Trump's reaction might be seen favorably by some, but after that Trump will expose even more just how terrible a person he is and how bad his intentions and the intentions of those around him are.

He always lies and whines about being a victim. I expect him to go nuclear with this, because he's honestly a victim in this. For a while people, who aren't already his supporters, will have sympathy for him. Eventually, they'll want him to shut the hell up about it. Trump won't be able to shut up about it and he will keep making all kinds of false accusations about it and making all kinds of threats of retribution too, until people get pissed off at him for telling obvious lies and making threats.

That's what I expect will happen. That doesn't mean it will and it's just as likely that it won't happen. This has as a much potential for Trump to ruin himself for good with, as it does for him to use it to his advantage.

It doesn't take much of an effort to sort out what is and isn't truth on social media and in news media. It only requires the desire and willingness to sort out the truth from lies.

Never acknowledging that Trump says far worse things about Biden destroying the country and has been saying that shirt for years.
