I was looking for a place to put this so we could discuss but didn't really find a place that worked so I created this thread so we can all place articles, experiences, videos and examples of racism in the USA.

This is one that happened this week. The lady even called and filed a complaint on the officer. This officer also chose to wear the body cam (apparently, LA doesn't require this yet). This exchange wasn't necessarily racist IMO until she started with the "mexican racist...you will never be white, like you want" garbage. That is when it turned racist IMO

All the murderer and other insults, I think are just a by product of CRT and ACAB rhetoric that is very common on the radical left and sadly is being brought to mainstream in this country.

Another point that I think is worth mentioning is she is a teacher and the sense of entitlement she feels is mind blowing.

The religious play victimhood to a much lesser extent than other groups, but they do it, no question. Victimhood groups usually end in civil war.

Strongly disagree with that first part.. religion plays victim as well as anything in this country..

In the era of rabid grievance populism for anyone to pretend that victimization politics is still even primarily the province of Democrats is laughable. The entire basis of Trumpism is white and religious grievance. The Republicans singular electoral strategy is currently culture wars.

It require an extreme degree cognitive dissonance for someone to claim otherwise.

We can agree to disagree on the 'much lesser extent' part. It's the primary driving force of the conservative right in this country over the last couple of decades. If not religion explicitly then morals/cultural identity that stems from religion. Or, at least, political leanings that are justified/pawned off as religious convictions.

These are the evangelicals, the 'own the libs' crowd, etc. It's the programming blueprint for Fox News, OAN, Newsmax, Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, etc. They are the other half of this country's culture war.

I am a centrist and I see much more victimhood on the left. The right is simply trying to protect the old ways, that is what conservatives do by nature. Grievance politics is the domain of the left.

I am a centrist, too. And I see it equally on both sides. I see no distinction between 'protecting the old ways' and grievance politics. Perhaps you might if you prefer the old ways, personally? The right is bemoaning they are aggrieved because not everyone will conform to their particular brand of what America 'should' be. Some anecdotal evidence of what I'm talking about:

Again, this has been the model for the vast majority of the GOP for decades. As for less of a threat... that wasn't Black Lives Matters I saw storming the capital on January 6.

Yeah, this is about as far off from reality as Fast 9. It’s so far in right field I wouldn’t even no where to start in the countless examples of how hysterically wrong this is in the year 2021. Put me in a Delorean, get it up to 88 mph, take me back to the 80’s and I’d agree with you. I suffer from being awake for the last 30 years though.

This is laughable, but anyway.

"Protect the old ways" is such a loaded phrases. It's the way you would say something when you don't want to actually deal with what it actually means.

It is just the definition that applies to those that like to conserve. I will admit that the latter may be seen as a dirty word, by those that are open to experience.

I'm choosing not to counteract your post in the same way I wouldn't invest time in counteracting someone saying water is dry. Some things are so blatantly obvious the fool is the one who engages in the discussion because it's fruitless. I think you bring a lot of interesting discussion to the table. I enjoy going back and forth with you on some things. This isn't going to be one of them. I don't have that kind of time in my life to waste.

The other side of the coin are those who play the religious victim card. And the GOP panders to that as well as the Democrats do to the race card.

I will agree to that. Although the DNC doesn't just pander to the race card but to the sexual orientation card, gender card, gender fluid card and any other card that they can convince people to feel personally attacked.

the issue is that the old ways they are “simply trying to protect” are the days when white, straight, Christian (and male) was the dominant default and there was a place in America for those who weren’t that (and they damn well better stay in it)

I think more than a little of the “grievances” you’re talking about are from people not willing to “simply” accept that any more

I predicted you would say that. That is a very standardized statement.

There is nothing wrong with being white, male, straight, or a Christian. In the same manner that there is nothing with being a female, lesbian, and Muslim. Don't fight hate with hate.

Old traditions are something entirely different than run of the mill bigotry.

"Less of a threat" in what way?

On the right there is a firm line that most people consider a no-go zone and that would be identity politics (white nationalism). Sure there are some that are there, but the vast majority of people in the world are against white identity politics. There is global consensus that white identity politics is evil.

On the left there is no such line. The more to the left the greater the virtue. There is no-go zone on the left. On top of that some on the extreme left think their ways are morally justified.
