I was looking for a place to put this so we could discuss but didn't really find a place that worked so I created this thread so we can all place articles, experiences, videos and examples of racism in the USA.

This is one that happened this week. The lady even called and filed a complaint on the officer. This officer also chose to wear the body cam (apparently, LA doesn't require this yet). This exchange wasn't necessarily racist IMO until she started with the "mexican racist...you will never be white, like you want" garbage. That is when it turned racist IMO

All the murderer and other insults, I think are just a by product of CRT and ACAB rhetoric that is very common on the radical left and sadly is being brought to mainstream in this country.

Another point that I think is worth mentioning is she is a teacher and the sense of entitlement she feels is mind blowing.

    Very interesting read and perspective

    ...............................snip................................

If not for my physical handicap, it would have been a no-brainer to give me the job. However, before I received the offer, they actually called my father to ask if he thought I could handle the task. It was incredible. I was not a teenager moving away from my parents’ house for the first time.

Boy that would tick me off.

He was following orders. He stepped out of the car and puts his hands behind his back. Why would he suddenly stop complying?
Maybe because he realized that he had active warrants and was about to go back to jail? Not sure though. Just like I am not sure why anyone would choke and rob a woman.

QAnon, banning of condoms an IUDs, teaching of creationism in schools, denying evolution, trying to codify medical procedures that don't exist, denying Constitutional rights to LGBTQ+ community, Aryan Nations... off the top of my head.
Almost a complete flip from the radical left and just as cooky.

    Mainly this right here:

“Christian nationalism, like other forms of religious nationalism around the world and throughout history, delivers a set of persecution narratives that represent the “good” religious people as under threat and as victims of an evil “other”. This is from a book by Katherine Stewart: The Power Worshippers: Inside the Dangerous Rise of Religious Nationalism.

It draws on more than a decade of first-hand experience and front-line reporting that began when her daughter’s public elementary school was targeted to house a fundamentalist Bible club.

They are banning books in school, they are regulating speech in the classroom. They are firing teachers for speech they don’t agree with, recently for merely being gay. They are flirting with legislating their religion, including banning certain forms of birth control, regular medical care for women who have miscarried, and repealing same sex marriage. They will try to criminalize abortion. They already talk about people who don’t agree with them as if they are Satanic, and nobody bats an eye. Preachers, who are not supposed to talk politics from the pulpit are violating that all over the place. They are telling their congregations how to vote.

The groypers, though, which is what the article was about, want an ethnically white Christian nation, where women have had most of their rights taken away, as have POC, and immigrants are banned. They have worked their way into the mainstream in some places.

Stewart again: on the similarity of Christian nationalism today to pro-slavery theologians in the past.

“Pro-slavery theologians, like Christian nationalist thought leaders today, were intensely hostile to the principle of equality, plurality and critical thinking. They endorsed an austere biblical literalism and rigid hierarchies, which they asserted were ordained by God.

The idea the US is a Christian nation, chosen by God; that it should be an orthodox Christian republic; that women should be subordinate to men; that at some point America deviated horribly from its mission and fell under the control of atheist and/or liberal elites – these ideas are still at the heart of Christian nationalism today.”
Can you show me who was fired for being gay?

Also, where did you get this? Link? I am curious.

So he puts his hands behind his back- submitted to arrest- and then stopped complying because he realized being cuffed and arrested meant going to jail?

    More on Asian names.

    And people couldn't pronounce Padma???
    =============================
As a nine-year-old, I was plucked from a sheltered life in my close-knit community of Chinatown in Incheon, South Korea, and plopped in Atlanta, Georgia. No one in my family had ever ventured outside of Asia prior to this leap of faith across the globe. None of us spoke English or understood American culture. Emigrating was nothing short of terrifying.

Both of my parents were college educated—my father had been a respected high school teacher, and my mother, a full-time homemaker in Korea. In the United States, both of them became restaurant workers. We relied on the advice of family and friends who had moved here before us to teach us how to survive and hopefully thrive in our drastically altered life. Rule number one was to adopt White-sounding first names. At the time, all of us accepted our new monikers without question. No American person would ever know me as Beautiful Jade. Instead, I became Michelle. Ironically, I couldn't see the problems with having to change my name to assimilate until after I became an American.

President Barack Obama, Padma Lakshmi, and Arnold Schwarzenegger are all successful American citizens who have struggled with their names. President Obama went by "Barry." Lakshmi changed her name to "Angelique" in high school because she was tired of people mispronouncing it. Schwarzenegger was called both "Arnie" and "Schwarzy" early in his career.

In all three cases, the noted individuals later reclaimed their given names. The same is true for Phuc Bui Diem Nguyen, a Vietnamese American college student from Oakland, California, who recently made headlines when her professor demanded that she Anglicize her name. As Nguyen was entering adulthood, she had made the admirable and courageous decision to reclaim her Vietnamese name after years of going by the name "May."...........

A name is a personal, fundamental aspect of self. Forcing someone to change their name from a position of power, such as that of an employer or, in Nguyen's case, a professor, for any reason—including xenophobia, racism, sexism, or transphobia—is disrespectful and unjust. It is an attempt to erase an individual's identity. Historically, many countries have forced erasure during times of war, colonization, and occupation. This practice of erasure is no less a deep violation in times of peace. Nguyen's professor failed to recognize that his discomfort should not be prioritized over her identity and agency.

Research shows that "whitened" resumes lead to approximately double the number of callbacks among both Black and Asian applicants who omit clues of race, highlighting the need for systemic change. Until our society can prove itself safe and equitable, people will continue to feel the pressure to change their names. After all, families like mine often wait for a decade or more for the right to emigrate for a better life.

The desire to assimilate to provide ourselves the best shot, socially and professionally, is understandable. In the Asian American community, this has resulted in aspirational first names inspired by prominent White men and educational institutions like Harvard, Stanford, and Yale, but far less common are names associated with other communities of color...........

You obviously have some insight into what he was thinking, why did he stop complying?

Not really. I am just pointing out that things were going smoothly, including the process of cuffing the man, until something changed. This was a routine stop in which the person with outstanding warrants was complying with the arrest. Something caused him to stop complying, and the notion that he just changed his mind is ludicrous.

Go to 5:10 of the video to learn how to pronounce the Vietnamese name "Phuc".

All the professor had to do was ask how Phuc is pronounced?

It was an interview, I didn’t save the link. I did remember the title of the book and the author’s name, I should get some credit for that, right?

Tell me what she got wrong about this paragraph:

“The idea the US is a Christian nation, chosen by God; that it should be an orthodox Christian republic; that women should be subordinate to men; that at some point America deviated horribly from its mission and fell under the control of atheist and/or liberal elites – these ideas are still at the heart of Christian nationalism today.”

I also saw online somewhere that a woman had been fired from her teaching position for being gay. She refused to pretend she wasn’t gay - I didn’t read the whole article. But my impression is that she had a picture of her partner on her desk, and was told to put it away and refused. I don’t think she should have to put it away when other teachers have pictures of their spouses at work. Do you?

Really? Because up until this point in his life, he made good decision not based on primal emotion?
You can see no universe in which this guy, as he is putting his hand behind his back suddenly thinks 'crap, I am going back to jail!'
Judging by his warrants and wrap sheet, this guy is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

So what would be the radical left's flip side?

I want to see the story about this teacher being fired for being gay. I have a feeling that did not happen.

Yeah, nothing. I agree with that paragraph in question.

From the ones I read and did some research on, it appears most were fired for activism of some sort or another. I can't find one, besides the one that were fired from Catholic schools- and I didn't bother to read those- for just being gay as was said.
One handed out pride bracelets. One had a discussion of sexuality and so on and so on. If you can't move the conversation away from who you have sex with to a bunch of students, you should not be a teacher.

I went to a private school and a teacher there was fired for attempting to molest a student. Should he have been fired? Of course. I went to a summer camp and a counselor was fired for the same thing. Again, the right thing to do of course. Beyond those obvious firrings, what should a gay teacher be fired for? For admitting he/she is gay? For the occasional conversation about homosexuality? For suggesting that if there are any gay students they can go to such and such a place where they won't feel out of place?

Let's relax a bit. No one is made to become gay because they were handed a bracelet for example.

You threw in a lo of things that are aren't in the same league mixed in with some propaganda and misconceptions.

BLM is not in the same zip code as QAnon or Aryan Nation.
There is no "ministry of truth"; an agency that puts out official statements to clarify official stances vis a vis rumors is not some sort of Orwellian censorship gestapo.
    Antifa is a boogeyman.
    Who's limiting free speech?
    No one's grooming anyone.
Which corporations are you talking about? And how they are kowtowing to anyone? And to even say something like that after multiple threats by sitting members of Congress towards corporations (times surely have change, seems corporations aren't people anymore. ).

The gender stuff, though... yeah, that's gotten out of hand.
