I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

A guy self-medicated and died? You can't legislate against stupidity in a country where people eat Tide pods on a dare.

No, but if the orange idiot in the White House who for some odd reason some people still believe is the second coming of Christ weren't to have insisted over all of the experts that this crud was a cure it might not have happened.

Still, you're right. You can't fix stupid. Anyone listening to tiny orange-hands is likely doomed, no?

EDIT ADD: What they consumed was reportedly not the malaria medication form of chloroquine, but an ingredient listed on a parasite treatment for fish, according to NBC News.

So you take the stupid route rather than blame the stupid that started it.

    Ok

We have a scared nation we need truth from the leaders not blowing smoke hope. That is dangerous.

I guess you can't see how any other nation is absolutely killing us in testing?

I guess you can't see the potential sacrifice if thousands of people to keep the economy going?

But then again you defend everything this leadership has ever done.

I guess you seemed to miss the denial of the scope of the problem until what last week?

Why would I be critical of anything Trump has done since he has been in office?

I think just like his Ukrainian phone call, Trump is perfect. It's like he receives direction from a higher source.

Do you remember when Moses saw the burning bush, his skin browned and his hair turned white? I think something similar happened to our President, except that he turned orange. So, stop your blasphemy and be thankful for your leader.

I was going to comment on the post you made to show your outrage when your dear leader reacted to Romney being quarantined but I couldn't find it. Your outrage tickles. I am amused.

Ok, so you act like Trump? I would pick someone a little more developed to model my behavior after but, like I said, you do you.

President Trump has praised Dr. Anthony S. Fauci as a “major television star.” He has tried to demonstrate that the administration is giving him free rein to speak. And he has deferred to Dr. Fauci’s opinion several times at the coronavirus task force’s televised briefings.

But Dr. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, has grown bolder in correcting the president’s falsehoods and overly rosy statements about the spread of the coronavirus in the past two weeks — and he has become a hero to the president’s critics because of it. And now, Mr. Trump’s patience has started to wear thin.

So has the patience of some White House advisers, who see Dr. Fauci as taking shots at the president in some of his interviews with print reporters while offering extensive praise for Mr. Trump in television interviews with conservative hosts............

Yeah, Fauci was treading a fine line, but he's gotten bolder recently and if wants to continue to have Trump's ear he's going to need to dial it back.

Use a parasite treatment for fish to treat coronavirus?
Did the president say that? No.
Did some moron get on the Internet and look up the names of chemicals and post it as a bogus home cure? Probably.
Did someone unwisely follow the bogus treatment on the Internet and poison himself? Yes.
Heck, a Virginia poison center has issued an alert telling people not to drink bleach to cure coronavirus.
I realize that for people of a certain mindset, it doesn't matter what the president says, it's the wrong thing.
Same thing when I used to come in at dawn after a night of playing cards with the guys . . . no matter what I said, it was wrong.
The only remedy seemed to if I pulled out my winnings and handed my wife her a 50% cut.
    Say, this is similar! :hihi:

Come on do you really want loved ones to die because he lacks in leadership and common sense?

Dude get real the stupid put him there he needs to cater to his ungodly stupid base.

Not saying all of his supporters are stupid but the stupid came out in droves to vote for him that never cared about it before.

Lots of educated people poison themselves mixing bleach and cleanser all the time but the president was not pushing comet and bleach!

So since he is wrong about everything list exactly what he got right in the pandemic!

Do you think Trump would fire him?

Fauci has been seen as the one real bright spot of the administration's response

It would look really bad if trump let him go because he wouldn't tow the line

    ===========================

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has emerged as a lone voice of reason during President Trump’s daily covid-19 press briefings. He’s the one person Americans have been able to rely on to separate fact from administration-ordained fiction, and that’s precisely why his days might be numbered.

The New York Times reports that Trump has become “frustrated with Dr. Fauci’s blunt approach at the briefing lectern, which often contradicts things the president has just said.” This was most recently apparent during Friday’s presser, when Fauci was asked whether the drug hydroxychloroquine is an effective prophylactic against coronavirus, given anecdotal reports that it has been used as a preventative measure against the virus. Fauci said no; moments later, Trump said that he felt “good” about hydroxychloroquine treatment and that the government has already ordered millions of units of the drug.

The contradictions are occurring off the lectern as well. On Sunday, Science magazine published an interview with Fauci, in which he asserted that he will never call covid-19 the “Chinese Virus,” as the Trump is fond of, and that he isn’t afraid to call the United States’s current response an abject failure. From Science:..................
