I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

Yeah, really. We are screwed as a society because we can't be bothered to do the right thing as a public service. Too many people only care about themselves. We don't all live in vacuums.

I think of it as the sense of public duty to faceless 'others' isn't as strong as the need to belong to the tribe. In order to belong, you have to follow the edicts of the tribal shamen. (Tucker, Trump, etc.) If these mouthpieces would get with the program, you'd see vaccination rates skyrocket.

This is known as false victimhood AKA the Jussie Smollet syndrome.
Hey there...lets not forget about the OG false victim...Backwards "B" girl.

What Jussie did was wrong, but anybody with half a brain saw right through that story immediately...I know I did. It didn't pass the basic common sense sniff test, "Two white guys in MAGA hats walking in the streets of Chicago after midnight" yeah...no.

Jussie did a lot of damage, because it allows ignorant trolls to bring it up anytime there is actual racism.

... wait, maybe it's the ignorant trolls who are doing a lot of damage

I gave Jussie the benefit of the doubt and believed in him. Later, I was incredibly disappointed with his actions. Smollet represents a certain segment of people on both the right and the left that somehow see the role of the noble victim as very empowering.

Quick: Rate how much you agree with each of these items on a scale of 1 (“not me at all”) to 5 (“this is so me”):

    • It is important to me that people who hurt me acknowledge that an injustice has been done to me.
    • I think I am much more conscientious and moral in my relations with other people compared to their treatment of me.
    • When people who are close to me feel hurt by my actions, it is very important for me to clarify that justice is on my side.
    • It is very hard for me to stop thinking about the injustice others have done to me.
If you scored high (4 or 5) on all of these items, you may have what psychologists have identified as a “tendency for interpersonal victimhood.”

I'd call it a self-absorption test. I literally answered 1 for all of them.

Enough idiots, however, did buy it initially at the beginning and it was a highly-publicized, media event for a while until too many contradictions in his story kept getting raised and werent being answered so more and more critics began questioning the validity of his claims. And what Jussie did wasnt just wrong, no one respects a forking, gosh darned liar when in comes to mischaracterizing, lying about a non-existent racially-motivated attack at midnight.

No one does false victim like evangelical Christians.
Except those living in Iran, Egypt as Coptic Christians, or other overwhelmingly Muslims majority countries which have or (used to have) significant Jewish or Christian minorities whose communities lived and co-existed peacefully for centuries before radical Islamic fundamentalism, along with post-WWII pan-Arab nationalist movements, made them subject to discrimination, physical attacks or mob-organized attacks or they fled the country. Jewish communities in Iraq and Baghdad pre-60's, Lebanon's Catholic/Shiite Muslim sectarian religious political divide that exploded into civil war in 1975.

Not sure what covid has to do with victimhood, but I honestly haven't been paying much attention to the past few pages.
Anyways, here is someone that interviewed a few people at a trump rally.
SPOILER: there is some thick accents which could be irritating to some people's ears

Cool. I didn't know Jews were evangelical Christians..

Would you like me to list all of the attacks Christians have perpetrated on others
since the Catholic church was founded?

Also, why do you think there was a pan-Arab nationalist movement post WWII ? Could it be because Christians and Zionists wanted to impose the foundation of Israel in Palestine? ... nah...

Now excuse me, I am running late to my "war against xmas" rally.

If you stay till the end, there’s an incredible moment.

The trump supporter/anti vaxxer lady says “I believe this is the time where God is separating the sheep from the goats.”

The interviewer asks “Which one are you.”

She clearly knows that the story of separating the sheep and goats has the sheep being Christian and the goats not, but she also realizes that she can’t admit to being a sheep, so she says “I guess I’m a goat because I’m not gonna listen to what they’re saying.”

Extremely telling about the state of most “Christians” today.

Some do it quite well in the forum. Embracing victimhood is very empowering and creates a sense of unity and fellowship with others that also declare themselves as victims.

Here is my favorite lefty communist philosopher talking about victimhood.

    🏆

You may also anti to join the anti-semitic rally. It will provide greater victimhood feelings.

Good thing these participation trophies are virtual. 🏆

You are trying way too hard, but it does amuse me, so, as you were :hihi:
