I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

And Republicans keep getting and spreading the Trump Virus. No worries though, trump makes sure they get preferential treatment the moment they pop positive, unless their names are Herman Cain. I wonder what makes him different???
The Monoclonal Antibodies weren't approved for emergency use by the FDA until November and Cain died in July. Our hospital has a limited supply of the Monoclonal Antibodies. Try Google next time before you try to insinuate a racist intent.

    Nope.

I don't need anyone to tell me how to feel about thing that are happening around me.

You think you or I can get that treatment the moment we pop positive??? You think trump even tried to do anything for his "friend" Herman Cain?

You mean Trump was absolutely full of shirt when he said that the same treatment was going to be available for any and every American who wants or needs it FOR FREE nationwide? Shut up! Trump is the world's biggest humanitarian. He always makes sure that other people are well taken care of and never looks out for himself and leaves someone else behind.

We don't need Google to let us know that Trump is a racist. He's proven it a hundred times over and you can Google that if you'd like.

Plenty of hospitals were able to obtain the cocktail under compassionate use guidelines. Even under the EUA, is not available to everyone.

Some hospitals have created a rating system to identify those most likely to benefit, some are using a lottery type system, but all hospitals that even have the drugs are rationing them. It certainly looks fishy that Ben Carson, Chris Christy and Rudy all just happened to be selected to get the experimental treatment. It would be interesting to have real data to show if this was truly coincidental or if they were being rewarded for their status.

I would also like to see some info on where we stand on these drugs. How close are we to making them at scale, so there would be enough for everyone, since it looks like they are effective.

Can you heathen bastages from Mississippi who don't read the EE board just stay home and not come to New Orleans for a few months? Please?

We're still neck deep in shirt, but here's the daily dose of positive...

The largest vaccination campaign in U.S. history got underway Monday as health workers in select hospitals rolled up their sleeves for shots to protect them from COVID-19 and start beating back the pandemic — a day of optimism even as the nation’s death toll neared 300,000.
“I feel hopeful today. Relieved,” said critical case nurse Sandra Lindsay after getting a shot in the arm at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York.
Shipments of precious frozen vials of vaccine made by Pfizer Inc. and its German partner BioNTech began arriving at hospitals around the country Monday.
“This is the light at the end of the tunnel. But it’s a long tunnel,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said as he watched Lindsay’s vaccination via video.

Several other countries also have OK’d the vaccine, including the U.K., which started vaccinating last week.
For health care workers who, along with nursing home residents, will be first in line for vaccination, hope is tempered by grief and the sheer exhaustion of months spent battling a coronavirus that still is surging in the U.S. and around the world.
“This is mile 24 of a marathon. People are fatigued. But we also recognize that this end is in sight,” said Dr. Chris Dale of Swedish Health Services in Seattle.

How was it decided that Florida got the first shipment?
