I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

I'll see your visual aid and raise you humanity. And the slight erosion thereof. It's hard not to get what he's saying at this point. Worth reading the thread, IMO.

But not the replies. It's disheartening to see so many people trashing this guy, calling him a liar and a fraud.

Wait a minute... wait a minute... does this mean Trump was right after all? Does he get a do-over?

I think, depending on the specifics and efficacy, Operation Warp Speed will go down as one really positive thing this Admin did.

There is a time to remove barriers and encourage rapid development. Also saw reports of early vaccines being staged in the US, prior to approval, so they can be ready.

Not sure what the plan is, but at least someone is getting ahead of major logistics.

Yeah, the removal of the usual red tape was a positive in getting the vaccines developed quickly. I'm actually pretty surprised at how quickly that's all coming to pass. I was thinking it might not be until winter 2021 before the vaccines became available.

Trump has botched a lot of things, but the vaccine rollout, if it goes well, will be one of the few positives that came out of this whole mess.

Maybe we'll get some coronavirus fiscal relief. I wonder if the Unemployment will be retroactive. That would help a bit.

It's definitely not the best, but it's something. Hopefully McConnell and Pelosi don't screw this up.

I guess this is were we are, when we are giving cookies for things they are supposed to do, trying to solve a problem they aggravated on purpose.

    So much for that wish...

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) will start circulating a new coronavirus relief proposal that could garner support from the White House among Senate Republicans on Tuesday.

McConnell, during a weekly press conference on Tuesday, said he had been speaking with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House chief of staff Mark Meadows about what President Trump could sign.

“I think we have a sense of what that is. ... We’re going to send that out to all the offices and get some feedback to see how our members react,” McConnell said.

“We don’t have time for messaging games. We don’t have time for lengthy negotiations,” McConnell added.

    ...................

A bipartisan, bicameral group of lawmakers also introduced a $908 billion bill earlier Tuesday though they didn’t have buy in from leadership or the White House.

McConnell appeared to cold water on using that proposal as a starting point though.

“We just don’t have time to waste time,” McConnell responded.

Hopefully they edit that soon, I believe they meant, "appeared to pour cold water on"
