Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

Yes! When my words don't make sense, must use pictures! I thought this was frowned upon. I am sure if I posted some memes you guys would lose you mind and report it and attempt to get me kicked off. Funny how that works. Don't worry, my guy, I won't report, I will just move along with my day.

So you mean sexually conscience? Because otherwise, you assume that being straight is a choice. It is not. It is how nature intended. Any deviation from that is a choice.

Nice that you being straight isn't a choice, but me being gay is. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You really have no self awareness of how ridiculous some of your arguments are.

So being straight is an inherit characteristic but being gay is a choice? Come on man.

You asked if anyone was forced, not by whom. But, if the State is compelling someone to do or not do something on the basis of someone else's religion, the State may not be forcing you to go to church and worship Jesus, but I'd be forcing you to into religious practices.
Would you be my parent or guardian? Are we so left now that you consider a parent taking his/her child to church to be 'forcing into religious practices'? I think you are trying to hard to stand against all 'religion' at this point.

I mean, you can ask every kid that goes to church. Like 80-90% will straight up tell you they're forced to go to church by their parents. That's no secret.

Do you think a child who goes to church is volunteering to be a member of that religion?

"Homosexual behavior in the animal kingdom is rife. One of the best-known examples is among bottlenose dolphins, with both males and females having encounters with members of the same sex."

I don't call that a drive by or trolling either one.

I call that snorting at a post I found to be high over the big top.

Here's a nice discussion with a troll which turned out to mutually beneficial for both the troll and the barbarian he was speaking with. It just goes to show that one can meet the nicest of folks in the high mountains.

Speaking of trolls, this movie is not half bad, it is on Netflix currently

No, I get it. I honestly do, but we are talking about what I, personally believe, and I have actually held back a little for the choice of civil debate.

I know what you believe. I just think it's illogical and ridiculous on it's face.

So I can't choose to be straight, but I can choose to be gay?

So your argument is that everyone defaults to straight, but some people decide to be gay instead?

Do you know how absurd that sounds? Why would any straight person decide they wanted to be gay instead? Could you imagine any scenario where you, a straight person, might choose to be gay?
This joke might open that door for Farb:

Husband: I heard a rumor that the postman's slept with all the women on our street, except for one.

Wife: I bet it's that's snooty Priscilla Quinn in Number 12.

    Incorrect...

It has nothing to do with "the left".

A parent that takes their child to church and tells the child "you must believe in this or your soul will burn in hell for eternity"? A child who is not given any option other than to belong to a church and believe? Yes.

And I am not against all religion. Buddhists, Jains, even Sihks are cool with me. It's mostly the Abrahamic religions, with Christianity and Islam occupying a special place in my heart.
