We’re gonna try to stay on point in this one -🤞 .

After the Iranian admission of shooting down the Ukrainian 737, which was carrying 82 Iranian passengers, protests against the Supreme Leader have broken out.

The UK ambassador to Iran has been arrested for talking photos of the protests. President Trump has tweeted support for the protesters in English and Farsi.

    The tweets for reference:

And necessary context before anyone attempts to defend the propaganda and cave to an out of context emotional provocation to provide post

Evidence of travel agreements with no evidence of any senior coordination from Tehran or knowledge of the terrorist attack. In the context of a report far more damning toward our ally Pence and Co. is currently helping facilitate one of the largest humanitarian crisis in the world to advance the Saudi’s self interest.

If Trump wasn’t also simultaneously out there signaling through his grotesque capitulating posture toward Un, signaling to the rest of our adversaries why North Korea, unlike Libya or Iran, was right to power ahead and proliferate a nuclear arsenal, Id have expected a follow up tweet revitalizing the Axis of Evil boogie man for the new generation.

If you wrote this farcical dynamic as a play, no one fund it because it is so simplistically stupid and fantastically unbelievable at the same time

Looks like in less than an hour the initial Trump narrative of this being necessary and outside of normal protocol being due to imminent threat is looking to have critical holes in it.

Of course as Pompeo says we are looking to deescalate it is now reported another convoy, possibly containing Iraqi militia leaders, was shot in Iraqi airspace without Iraqi consent.

It is also being reported Germany has ordered their troops out of Iraq and is demanding proof from the US verifying their allegations.

Seems the plan is to designate previously agreed upon militia leaders “terrorists” as justification for committing air strikes on targets that would otherwise run afoul of violations to the administrations interpretations of AUMF and other authorizations:

Also, hard to see how this is deescalating the situation.

Keeping in mind, many of the branches of Iranian influence do not operate under the direct guidance and authority of Tehran, by strategic design, and these sporadic attacks seem to only heighten the risk that one or more of these proxies will feel motivated/obligated to carry out attacks on US or US allies, even if in the best case scenario Tehran is hesitant on escalating and is encouraging restraint.

More war on the horizon. Americans are just numb to the industry now.

We kill hundreds to thousands in other countries every year. It happens to us, not even near the same scale, and we lick our chops for WWIII. All while our people lack basic Healthcare, vets on the street, etc.

    That's America

I don't necessarily support escalation although I do think killing senior leaders responsible for Iran's proxy conflicts is a better strategy than killing non-Iranians.

As I have said before, Iran is searching for a way to escalate that does not endanger their existence and aid in politically damaging Trump.

Iran hopes to create a situation that does not favor the US military technical superiority, has no discernible end, and will create political discord and disfavor for Trump.

That is a pretty narrow constraint, especially now that Trump as demonstrated a willingness to kill Iranians outside Iran.

We are going to see an escalation by Iran. They have to. They cannot go back to the no nukes negotiations without humiliating themselves and we know they won't do that.

They don't have willing dupe in the White House anymore so their only choice is some sort of escalation that accomplishes all of the above.

More proxy attacks, especially aimed at senior US military members, should be expected.

Iran is vowing revenge. If they really want revenge, they should hack the RNC, get into those servers where trump has hidden the real transcripts and do everything they can to make sure that he is not re-elected. They have the means. I mean if trump wants to invite the russians and china to interfere, why not have the Iranians interfere as well. After he is kicked out, they can then announce their involvement so that he knows it was them who took him down. That would be the ultimate revenge.

Heard a bunch or reports about the Iranian people being happy about it...

The Iranian people are no more a monolith than the American people.

There are going to be people in Iran happy that the regime suffered a blow and there will be people in Iran shouting “death to America”.

It amazes me how quick the Iranian protesters have pictures, posters, US flags to burn, etc. at a moment notice to protest. Did the Iranian government have all this ready to use at anytime they wanted the media to see them? If the media and especially the social media ignored this they would most likely not do them.

I guess China is much closer to Iran...

I have always thought social media like Tweeter create more problems at times like this. There should be a way to limit what is posted. All it does is add firewood to the already blazing fire.

It couldn't possibly be propaganda. Everybody knows that the American people are too intelligent to fall for that.

If it were propaganda that would mean that there are people who would benefit from a conflict escalation.

I'm sure that weapons manufacturers hate seeing their work being destroyed. No President would want to be responsible for a war unless he were desperate. Thankfully, our President's has nothing about which to worry.

Street theater is a well-orchestrated Middle Eastern custom.
You want a thousand mourners, wailing a lament and shouting Death to America?
You can custom order your protest and there are folks who will make it happen!

To be clear, the drone strike was against Iranians who were in Baghdad, Iraq, during the same week that our embassy was attacked.
    That's not a coincidence.
The fact that the strike did not take place on Iranian soil tends to temper the Iranian response.
They shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place and they know it.
