Oh, gee, I am SOOOOO sorry.
    Feel better now?
Texan, I’m relatively new. But that was not really an apology that was a smart arse comment and I’ve agreed with you a number of times but just say you’re sorry if you mean it or don’t it’s that easy. I’m not trying to break your balls, but seriously that was not an apology :) and I almost never apologize.

I am independent who leans slightly right you probably wouldn’t like all my voting record. Neither would those on the left, but we are all Americans and we are brothers. If we don’t figure it out we’re forked. China will take over the world. They’re on a grand pace to do so.I guarantee I can hunt better than you, I’m from Michigan. I was trained young by MM. Most people on this board would never know what to do if their local grocery store close down in a catastrophe, but I would survive what you need to understand is: Will you help out your neighbor that didn’t know how to do that in a hard place?

Keep in mind that many posters on this board have connections to NOLA, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned about them, it’s that they’ve likely forgotten more about disaster preparedness than most people will ever know. The main board that this one are a spin off of even have an entire thread on disaster preparations

Do you know what MM or for that matter DHMC stands for? Both were wrong in certain ways, but they were both right in others.

I asume you mean Disaster Health Management Capability or Disaster Health Management Coordination.

I have served in the Danish Civil defense force as a team leader for almost 30 years :)

😊 That sounds like a good group to have served in. Have a great New Year’s Eve.

Been in Denmark and to the Netherlands area. Great place to be.

It's pathetic that NOT ONE Republican Senator can rebut any of the disqualifying attributes and statements the Hegseth has made. Instead, they fall back to miscellaneous letters of endorsements from fellow sycophants. Hell, Hegseth can't even defend his own actions, all he has done was to repeat is unwavering support of trump. He will be an excellent SecDef for trump, but not for The United States of America.

    Of course they did.

This entire hearing was about the Republicans claiming that DoD has lowered its standards to accommodate "the others", while they fight for an individual that can't even define the office that he is seeking to lead. Hegseth has demonstrated that he is not qualified to lead an Army Squad, much less the DoD. He's fortunate to have been in the Guard cause I'm willing to bet that he would've been "kicked-out" of the Regular Army as a Lieutenant.

From Tom Nichols on the Hegseth hearing

“Not long after Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth read his opening statement and began fielding questions from the Senate Armed Services Committee, I began thinking: I hope neither America’s allies nor its enemies are watching this. The hope was, of course, completely unreasonable. Such hearings are watched closely by friends and foes alike, in order to take the measure of a nominee who might lead the most powerful military in the world and would be a close adviser to the president of the United States.

What America and the world saw today was not a serious examination of a serious man. Instead, Republicans on the committee showed that they would rather elevate an unqualified and unfit nominee to a position of immense responsibility than cross Donald Trump, Elon Musk, or the most ardent Republican voters in their home states. America’s allies should be deeply concerned; America’s enemies, meanwhile, are almost certainly laughing in amazement at their unexpected good fortune.

Most of the GOP senators asked questions that had little to do with the defense of the United States and everything to do with the peculiar obsessions that dominate the alternative reality of right-wing television and talk radio, especially the bane of “wokeness.” Perhaps that was just as well for Hegseth, because the few moments where anything of substance came up did not go well for him. When Senator Deb Fischer of Nebraska, for example, tried early on to draw Hegseth out with some basic questions about nuclear weapons, he was lost. He tried to fumble his way around to an answer that included harnessing the creativity of Silicon Valley to innovate a future nuclear force … or something.”

Joni Ernst sells out. I still hope enough R senators will oppose this drunkard and sociopath for this important position.

So the Senate - the “upper house” where the sensible people are - should confirm a guy who’s going to “burn down” the Defense Department.
