    Just curious what people think.

I personally do not see there being any kind of special privilege to being comfortable in your own skin.

Do right-handed people believe right handedness is a form of privilege

I guess the broad answer is that whatever a given situation, those things that don't handicap you can be considered privilege. Especially the ones you don't have to think about or directly invoke.

From a southpaw's point of view, being right-handed is a form of privilege. Most of the world is made for you guys. It's so automatic you don't even have to consider it.

Tell that to the poor kid on my son's tee ball team several years back.

He was right handed, but his dad was forcing him to learn to throw lefty, because he wanted his 7 year old to be a big league pitcher and southpaws make way more money. Tears at every practice.

Spoiler alert - he didn't make it to the big leagues.

In High School I found it very difficult to use a desk because they were these horrible right-handed things made for midgets. For me to twist myself around to write on them would have given me scoliosis or some other sort of spinal problems. Mind you this was a brand new HS with 2000 students and not a left handed desk in it on day 1. After a couple of weeks they put tables and chairs in the backs of the classes and made all of us lefties sit in back.

    Is that not prejudice?

    It’s little person.

A nearsighted lefty never stood a chance at your school.

"Gender" is a word that's quickly losing its meaning.

Next time someone asks my gender, I am going to respond/write down "plumber".

The next time someone asks my gender would be be the first time.

I can see a future where one of the first questions people ask someone they just met is “What’s your gender?”

It’s will be like the “What’s your sign?” of generation Z.

Do you mean to tell me you have never filled out a form that asks you about your gender?

At my place of work, I can go to the HR page and choose/update my gender. Matter of fact, there are 3 separate fields: gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity. It is not required I enter anything, but the questions are there. We don't have as many choices as NYC, but I can choose to be one of, or a combination of:
    male
    female
    lesbian
    gay
    bisexual
    heterosexual
    straight
    transgender

    ... still way behind NYC.

Yea, but a form isn’t “someone”.

Proctor & Gamble is removing female symbols from the packaging of its feminine hygiene products because . . .

“LGBTQ activists and allies have been publicly asking P&G [Procter & Gamble] to redesign the packaging to be more gender-neutral. They argued that using the female symbol is exclusive because not all women menstruate, and not all people who menstruate identify as women.”

So, who exactly asked Proctor & Gamble to remove the female symbol from its packaging?

The name is Ben Saunders, the UK Stonewall's 2019 Young Campaigner of the Year.

Do you feel that anyone is harmed by them changing their packaging?

IDK, maybe the individuals who lobbied for the change. I don't think we are doing them any favors by showing we will ignore reality if only they raise enough hell.

And it doesn't seem good for anyone to go a step further into an Orwellian dystopia.

A company voluntarily making a change is not going to lead to to Orwell. It’s not like this is even a case of mob rule. There wasn’t some massive hashtag or boycott campaign for this. The company wasn’t under any meaningful pressure to do it.

Maybe they did it just to trigger the cons, I dunno.

I'm more worried about the folks who are telling us that the call from Trump to the Ukranian president was "perfect" or the ones who say that Mueller's report exonerated Trump.

Removing a stupid symbol from a mass marketed product means nothing, but living in a world where Orwell is no longer fiction is terrifying.

    I don't use the product.
I was the one with 4 daughters and a wife who had to keep the correct brand names, sizes and types straight in my head for those middle-of-the-day and middle-of-the night emergencies, playing the knight in shining armor to the rescue. :9:
    Harmful? No.
    Stupid and ridiculous? Yes.

I agree it is ridiculous, but so was New Coke.

I care about as much as I did about new coke.

In the UK, courts have ruled people can be fired from their jobs for stating their belief in two biological sexes.

Maya Forstater, 45, did not have her contract renewed after posting a series of tweets questioning government plans to let people declare their own gender.
Ms Forstater believes trans women holding certificates that recognise their transgender identity cannot describe themselves as women.
Ms Forstater had argued "framing the question of transgender inclusion as an argument that male people should be allowed into women's spaces discounts women's rights to privacy and is fundamentally illiberal (it is like forcing Jewish people to eat pork)".

Judge: "It is a core component of her belief that she will refer to a person by the sex she considered appropriate even if it violates their dignity and/or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment."
"The approach is not worthy of respect in a democratic society."

Do you believe that the government should prevent an employer from firing an employee if one of the reasons is talking about what they believe about trans pronouns at work or on social media?
