    There’s a lot of doubt that Kevin McCarthy will be able to get enough votes to become Speaker. It certainly won’t happen on the first ballot. Already Boboert and MTG are publicly at odds over it.

    Maybe this is worth it’s own thread to watch. One person mentioned is Scalise.

    It has a lot to do with it. Trump being elected was the trigger for a lot of the behavior we have seen since 2016. And no, she is not a strong woman; she showed how weak she was during the election process and more importantly the debates. But the Dems wanted Hillary no matter what, and the other option was an old curmudgeon socialist who pretended to be a Democrat to get on a ballot.

    So, yeah, when you look at what's happening today, there's a lot of Democrat in it.

    I couldn't say. I have no justification for why people continue to vote for Republicans, but it's certainly not because they can be trusted to govern effectively.

    There is a huge pro-Republican bias in American culture and in the media. They're graded on a huge cuve for some reason and given every benefit of the doubt, never being held to the same standard as Democrats. The only thing I've been able up come up with is that Republicans allow people to feel justified in the worst impulses and beliefs and that's comforting for those that vote for Republicans.

    Freedom Caucus my right (fill-in-the-blank). Spoiled 4 year olds caucus is more accurate. I don’t care from one standpoint that the idiots tossed out McCarthy. He was a fool to start with. Beyond that they are unfit to hold any office.

    Very curious to see if the reports that instead of gaining votes overnight, he lost them comes to pass.

    If that's true, the writing is on the wall that absent some kind of new brokered deal (unlikely), it's going to have to be someone else.

    It was 20 yesterday and about halfway through now, there's already 13.

    Yeah, looking like it's gonna be 20+. I'm guessing 25.

    CNN is pretty much doing that. This is my TV but you can watch on their site or app also.
