There’s a lot of doubt that Kevin McCarthy will be able to get enough votes to become Speaker. It certainly won’t happen on the first ballot. Already Boboert and MTG are publicly at odds over it.

Maybe this is worth it’s own thread to watch. One person mentioned is Scalise.

Looks like a couple of people are going to be out for the next few days. So it doesn't look like anything will be accomplished anytime soon.

Wow. A McCarthy supporter confirms that there has been preliminary talks with Dems on a consensus government. Now, he may be full of shirt and just trying to scare the 20, but still.
This is what needs to happen. Hopefully with somebody other than McCarthy, because he’s just not qualified.

And they’re just moving into a 10th vote. This is just too stupid to believe.

Also-I am disappointed that democrats are not getting together with Utah Rep Upton (?) and shutting these MAGA idiots down. He already offered equal representation on all committees. That’s huge. Get one or two other agreements and put everybody out of their misery.
I'm not sure you could find enough Republicans to go along to make it work but it's definitely worth a shot.

I might be wrong but I think both sides are going to have entrenched themselves so strongly that this is going to really be a while.

Other than a few issues how are these people ever going to all work together lol?

The only way I see it happening is the R's reaching across to the D's and offering something so tempting and juicy that they would be foolish not to accept. Then again, D's just have to keep showing up and voting the same way and the egg remains on the face of the R's.

I think the dems are lockstep in letting the republicans continue to look like clowns and baffoons.

Plus they are too busy badmouthing other republicans on talk radio to bad mouth democrats.

    Let them eat their own.

And, Trump throws his hat in the ring, lol.
