Its a decision made from strictly a political calculation and its premise is simple, Trump isn't a winning formula, attaching your political fortunes or future success around Trump's messages or policies or echoing or re-mentioning his rhetorical, idiotic nonsense won't win elections, it might energize rabid diehards, fringe lunatics but you'll lose moderates, independents to your opposing party's candidate in whatever elections you try to win.

If this is his message for his campaign it’s pretty perfect. The Trumpers have been primed for years to think of themselves as victims, they wallow in their victimhood.

Even though I can’t stand listening to Trump, I’m sure the Democrats are hoping for him to win the nomination! Biden is not a strong candidate, and Trump will give the Dems the best chance to win the 2024 election!

I didn’t watch any of the announcement today. Question, was Melania there today?

If he runs. The republicans have no chance. What can they do though? The party is split between magas and traditional conservatives. We can survive the latter. we can't the former.

Yes.

I'm curious to see what Trump tries differently this time. There is no way he can roll out the same message and expand his voting demographic enough to win in 24. I did see something a little different though, he kept talking about how bad covid was instead of being dismissive about it. What blows me away about Trump is that he'd be in a favorable spot in his party if he just adopted the "Aw shucks man, we fell short and lost the election. I'll have to regroup and think about my political future."

Instead, he kept saying it was stolen, kept talking about election fraud which I believe turned off a lot of people. I'm not even sure he can get those voters back at this point.
