I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

Oppo research on Fauci by the White House seems an odd move, no? This could be something that could easily backfire. And within moments of the announcement, Biden tweeted that he would listen to Fauci.

If we are talking moderates and suburban white women voters and all these other critical voting blocs, does something like ‘cancelling’ Fauci pay off? How? I must be missing something.

well, we are talking about a person who not only transferred and harassed a person who testified in a way he didn’t like, but also his twin brother, so I doubt there was any election type strategy involved.

Speculation was he read a poll that over 70% of people trusted Fauci’s word on the pandemic, while only 30 some % trusted him. And he cannot abide that over anything else. He has to be the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral. 🙄

It's all a hoax, everyone is lying
    ================================

President Donald Trump on Monday shared a handful of social media posts questioning the expertise of his own public health officials, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, and suggesting their scientific counsel was intended to thwart his political standing ahead of November’s general election.

In a burst of early morning online activity, Trump retweeted messages from the politically conservative former game show personality Chuck Woolery — who had stints hosting “Wheel of Fortune” and “Love Connection” — which lamented the spread of the “most outrageous lies” regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

“Everyone is lying. The CDC, Media, Democrats, our Doctors, not all but most, that we are told to trust. I think it's all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. I'm sick of it,” Woolery wrote in a tweet shared by the president.

In another post Trump retweeted, Woolery claimed there exists “so much evidence, yes scientific evidence, that schools should open this fall. It's worldwide and it's overwhelming. BUT NO.”

Trump also retweeted a message from Mark Young, Woolery’s co-host on his “Blunt Force Truth” podcast, which asked: “So based on Dr. Fauci and the Democrats, I will need an ID card to go shopping but not to vote?”.........................

President Trump here is the opinion of 35 year infectious diseases expert Dr. Anthony Fauci

Trump: I don’t care, what does Love Connection host Chuck Woolery have to say?

" If you know, Biden and Obama stopped their testing; they just stopped it. You probably know that. I’m sure you don’t want to report it. But they stopped testing. Right in the middle, they just went, “No more testing,” and on a much lesser problem than the problem that we have, obviously with respect to — this is the worst thing that’s happened since probably 1917. This is a very bad — all over the world. It’s 188 countries right now. "

Well there you have it folks. According to Trump, this is all Obama and Biden's fault

So the plan is to keep the virus hoax going long enough for people to not be able to go out in public to vote? Ok then.

This is what I have trouble reconciling in my mind:

Also, heard this comment today but cannot remember who said it, I do agree though.

“There is no number, no body count, that will make Trump care about the virus. He doesn’t care if you live or die.”

Yep. If only Obama and Biden had continued coronavirus testing, we wouldn't be in this predicament.

Yeah, no idea what he was talking about.. was he trying to say they made the H1N1 flu less known, due to not testing?"

Q President Trump, you’ve said many times that the number of coronavirus cases is going up because testing is increasing.

    THE PRESIDENT: That’s right.

Q Do you acknowledge that it’s going up for other reasons too; for example, that it’s actually spreading? And what are you going to do to stop the spread?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, you know that we have one of the lowest mortality rates anywhere. If you know, Biden and Obama stopped their testing; they just stopped it.

But, no, we are — we test more than anybody, by far. And when you test, you create cases. So we’ve created cases. I can tell you some countries, they test when somebody walks into a hospital sick or walks into maybe a doctor’s office, but usually a hospital. That’s the testing they do, so they don’t have cases, whereas we do — we have all of these cases. So, you know, it’s a double-edged sword.

At the same time, we have the lowest mortality or just about the lowest mortality in the world. We’re doing a great job. We’re doing very well with vaccines, and we’re doing very, very well with therapeutics. And I think we’re going to have some very good information coming out soon.

But we have the best, and certainly the biggest — by far, the biggest testing program anywhere in the world. If you tested China or Russia or any of the larger countries, if you just tested India, as an example, the way we test, you’d see numbers that would be very surprising. Brazil, too. You know, Brazil is going through a big problem, but they don’t do testing like we do.

So we do the testing, and by doing the testing, we have tremendous numbers of cases. If we didn’t do the — as an example, we’ve done 45 million tests. If we did half that number, you’d have half the cases, probably — around that number. If we did — if we did another half of that, you’d have half the numbers. Everyone would be saying, “Oh, we’re doing so well on cases.”

But when I see it reported in the night — you can check me out on this — I mean, they always talk about — they’re always talking about cases, the number of cases. Well, it is a big factor that we do — we have a lot of cases because we have a lot of testing, far more than any other country in the world. And it’s also the best testing.

So, something McConnell said, struck me.

At the same time, McConnell acknowledged the concerns of GOP colleagues who are worried about the mounting deficit.

“It does raise a good deal of concern because we now have a debt, a cumulative debt, the size of our economy for the first time since World War II,” he said. “Believe me, we would not have done that under any under circumstances.”

He has been deficit spending for almost 4 years (not even counting the last two for Obama).. he is so full of crap.

He realizes what's going to happen in November and it's time to start ramping up pretending to care about deficits so so he can obstruct and preach cutting social safety nets and if you don't go along with him then you are ruining are children's futures or some bullshirt like that.
