This falls along what I have been saying all along about China kicking our butts on Manufacturing.

"The Chinese Communist Party has threatened to cut off America's access to vital drugs in the midst of a pandemic caused by its own failures. It's time to pull America's supply chains for life-saving medicine out of China and make the CCP pay for contributing to this global emergency," said Cotton.

In fact, over 80 percent of pharmaceuticals sold in the U.S. – in addition to crucial medical equipment, including face-marks – come from China.

It's our own fault Joe. Our medical industry incorporates over seas, moves production to China. Yet they still throw out the reason drugs cost so much is because we pay to develop them. Bull shirt. So many strategic industries have been transferred to China. Shipping, pharmaceuticals, electronics. We need to cut our military budget in half and start subsidizing domestic production and transportation.

I think our last aspirin plant left in 2003.

    Penicillin, about the same time.

I really don't know what the fault is.. But Tom is talking about building Manufacturing plants for Pharmaceuticals here at home.. Arkansas is perfect for it.. Cause they only Make Ammo, Toilet paper and Minnows.

But I am letting what you say sink in... But I agree that so many industries have been transferred for sure.

Our leaders got RICH AF while they sold us out to China. This is every one of them. Both Republicans and Democrats.
I have a feeling if we looked at where all these politicians made their money, it will come through back channels, family and friends and lobbyist and mainly be from China.

This ciris shows just how ill prepared we are to just take care of our population by the simple production of the most basic healthcare supplies and medicines.

You never want to be the last one to show up for a revolution.

Why is it that you guys on the right always want to share the blame across both parties.

Let's look at your argument for why we are ill prepared. Oh, and I completely agree that politicians have left us woefully unprepared, but I don't think it's as easy as just saying "both sides did it" as you have.

    1. One party supports unions. One party has done everything in its power to emasculate unions and organized labor. Unions have their drawbacks, but they also stand for the labor and oppose offshoring and other activities which leave us unprepared.

    2. One party supports regulations. One party does everything in its power to remove or curtail them so that companies can avoid being responsible for their employees and the waste products they produce. When deregulation doesn't work, they leave and go to places where they can pollute or use slave labor to maximize profit. One party sees their role as to prevent his and the other party does what they can to enact tax policy that rewards their big donors with tax cuts for leaving America.

    3. One party supports a national healthcare system which is not centered on profit. One party sees the profit motive as the greatest driver of our failed American heatlhcare system. To quote my former grad-school roommate, "medical providers don't make a profit by being prepared for pandemics. We make our money by providing billable services" Succinct and straight to the point. There is no incentive for a profit based system to prepare for an unprofitable event.

I could go on, but I think these little thoughts are a good jumping off point. Republicans have done everything they can to eliminate the power of the worker and transfer it to the corporations that fund their elections in order to procure economic and tax policies that benefit their shareholders. Somewhere along the way, we lost track of the fact that the market doesn't make ethical or moral decisions. Capitalism is a calculus for the exchange or scarce resources among alternative ends. It is not a device for making decisions of right vs wrong.

Had no idea you hated Reaganomics so much
But when I really stop to think about it, it makes sense

Are you telling me one side is socialist and one side is capitalists? Shut the front door! I think you cracked it!

I want both sides to be held accountable and I want us to really look into this regardless of what team they play for. You can keep going at with party politics, I don't think it benefits the american people, but GO TEAM!!! if it makes you feel any better.

Why do conservatives spread the blame? LOL at that question.

    That's a bold strategy.

I'm quickly tiring on this vacuous debate with you and if you're trying to reduce what i said to team politics you're surely missing it so I'll try one last time.

you keep expressing outrage for China because they failed to stop it or warn us. You see their government as responsible. OK.

Here you say both sides have left us unprepared. The only problem is that only one side has done it. One side has caused the policy changes that remove our protections. One party has enacted legislation that prevents us from being prepared. The other side has fought against them, but in the fight against left and socialism that side has been unable to prevent what we see today.

If you want to make our goods and medicines at home, there's one party that's attempted to make that happen. If you want a medical system that isn't based on instant profit, rather taking a long term view towards overall health, prevention and preparedness, there's one party that you should support.

Instead, you blame both sides when the issues you've complaining about are very much to blame on one side of the aisle.

I reduce what you say to party politics because what you say is party politics. It is pretty easy to see, no?

    I am putting this here...

If this story is true.. and the thought is that there is going to be a future war with China... We will be screwed big time.. We have let them get way too far ahead of us, and we let ourselves get way too far behind... The dependency of Chinese imports is gonna be the death of us.

Faster and lighter, I think is the plan there. I don't see the marines hitting many beaches in the future.

This first line of the story.. and there are many others...

The U.S. Marine Corps is remaking itself to better fight China in a potential conflict,

Joe I here where you are coming from on this but.

The military budget gets spent on all kinds of things. Corporate America makes an absolute ton selling product. Is yes the military needs new product. They spend spend and spend.

So yeah the what if we are fighting in the China Sea is selling point to sell billions and billions of product and make old product obsolete.

Considering the world Police job is almost over in the middle East they have to sell more shirt.

That is just a money grab more than a we are gonna fight China.

if there was ever a war with china, it wouldn't be by land

The first thing I hope happens is the US start getting the pharmaceutical factories back into the US. China can hurt us real bad by stopping the distribution of them.
