More than a month after House Republicans surprised Washington by advancing their framework for Trump’s $4.5 trillion in tax breaks and $2 trillion in spending cuts, Senate Republicans voted Thursday to start working on their version. The largely party-line vote, 52-48, sets the stage for a potential Senate all-nighter Friday spilling into the weekend.

Seemed like some folks needed a reminder. That there are other options than using a tax filing service. The post I responded to only mentioned their son would have to spend $50. I simply reminded of the paper forms, envelope, stamp option. Much cheaper.

Free is even cheaper than that. Why do you think the GOP is eliminating the free filing service?

The horrible things stuck into this bill are going to keep coming to light. This is evil.

“The reconciliation bill that was passed now seeks to ban Affordable Care Act health care plans from covering abortion and gender-affirming care for all Medicaid patients, including adults, after initially proposing to ban care for just minors.”

“About half of states already ban ACA plans from covering abortion, while 13 states require marketplace plans to include abortion coverage, according to the health policy research organization KFF and the reproductive rights research and policy organization the Guttmacher Institute. Research from Guttmacher shows that six percent of people who obtained abortions between 2021 to 2022 had insurance through the ACA.”

What they are doing is trying to go nation-wide and impose their religious beliefs on states where abortion is still legal.

It should put to rest the lie they all told that they were fine with letting states decide this issue. They’re absolutely not fine with anything less than total criminalization of women, and total loss of bodily autonomy for women.

All this bill is, is a gut punch to Medicaid. They're dressing it up as "we just want to kick off illegals but all its gonna really do is make it harder for people to qualify because they're really changing the rules of acceptance, via adding work requirements. This will probably get tied up in court. This will more than likely tank the Republican control of both halls of congress in the midterms if the hammer to Medicaid is retained as the bill goes thru the Senate.

It never, ever, ends well when you start fooling with medicaid, even if you think these moves are just.

So I wrote back to him today and told him I didn’t appreciate the dishonesty of him saying that Trump and Johnson won’t cut Medicaid. I pointed out the cuts in the budget that just passed out of committee and how rural hospitals, nursing homes and clinics will close because of this budget. I also referred him to a WSJ article about Trump hoping to cut entitlements quietly. It’s so stupid, they are actively voting to hurt their districts.

I wonder if she thinks nuclear bombs wouldn’t change the environment? People like her wouldn’t have done anything to reverse the damage we did to the ozone layer. It’s so idiotic to use god as a justification for anything, since no one knows what god thinks. Why wouldn’t god want us to use our brains to reverse the damage we do?

If people aren't ready and willing to riot at this point, we're toast

We are already forked. That time has passed after Nov 6th when the people elected a twice-impeached, 34 felony, 4x bankrupt sexual assaulter.

Even if democracy somehow survives these next few years, it will be so forked up that it will probably take decades to repair (if ever)

Rioting will only hasten the process IMO. Trump is itching to declare a state of emergency and impose martial law.

Peaceful massive protests - great. Selected under the radar dirty tricks - okay in the spirit of fighting fire with fire (hacking their communications, etc.) But rioting would be a disaster.

How so? As compared to what could come next?

American citizens are now being openly kidnapped by their government.

Maybe you can explain to me what rioting would accomplish and what you think would happen next.
