I was looking for a place to put this so we could discuss but didn't really find a place that worked so I created this thread so we can all place articles, experiences, videos and examples of racism in the USA.

This is one that happened this week. The lady even called and filed a complaint on the officer. This officer also chose to wear the body cam (apparently, LA doesn't require this yet). This exchange wasn't necessarily racist IMO until she started with the "mexican racist...you will never be white, like you want" garbage. That is when it turned racist IMO

All the murderer and other insults, I think are just a by product of CRT and ACAB rhetoric that is very common on the radical left and sadly is being brought to mainstream in this country.

Another point that I think is worth mentioning is she is a teacher and the sense of entitlement she feels is mind blowing.

Can you explain it using your own words. I never heard the term.
Why do you have a problem looking it up on google? I mean, you don't seem to have a problem searching out obscure references in previous posts. Why do you need someone to "explain it in their own words" when you can get the exact meaning so that you completely understand what I suspect that you already really know the meaning.

Remember before I accused you of purposely being obtuse? Are you trying to appear obtuse because what you are doing now with respect to trickle down theory is purposely being obtuse.

There are 10 pages of info on google explaining trickle down theory. Read it and get back to us. Otherwise stop wasting people's time with your disingenuousness.

The issue is that some people think they are making an argument by regurgitating recycled buzzwords. I am not an economist and I cannot make a sound judgment about Ronald Reagan. I do know the top tax rate was 70% and that the tax revenue went up after cutting taxes. That scheme does not work all the time. Furthermore, Reagan spent too much money which is not unusual to presidents. I am ambivalent about Reagan. I enjoyed his wit and charm. This is a great joke!

I predicted you would say that. That is a very standardized statement.

There is nothing wrong with being white, male, straight, or a Christian. In the same manner that there is nothing with being a female, lesbian, and Muslim. Don't fight hate with hate.

Old traditions are something entirely different than run of the mill bigotry.

I guess we can both see each other coming a mile away because I saw this coming from you

I never said that there was anything "wrong" with being white, male, straight, and Christian. most people aren't saying that

What is wrong is when white, male, straight Christians insist that everything be from a white, male, straight, Christian lens, viewpoint and position while minimizing, dismissing or ignoring any others

Wanting other lenses, viewpoints and positions is not hate

Wanting to be recognized and represented is not hate

Wanting to learn more about your history is not hate

Wanting not to be discriminated against is not hate

Wanting not to be harassed is not hate

Wanting those who do discriminate and harass to be held accountable is not hate

Wanting to be left to live their lives in peace is not hate

But whenever those who are not white, male, straight Christians say 'this is what we want' like clockwork people say (predictably) "There is nothing wrong with being white, male, straight, or a Christian." people say things like "Don't fight hate with hate" or "two wrongs don't make a right", "how is this any different than what you're fighting against?"

people make claims of being canceled or silenced or erased or attacked, people scream about indoctrination and being replaced.

When you're in a position of power and privilege equality looks like oppression

I read an article a while back (I'll see if I can find it) about an English teacher who after last year took a look at his assigned reading lists going back nearly 20 years and found that every year was well over 90% white authors (and mostly male) - he changed his list to be more inclusive and cue the firestorm and backlash and accusations of being too PC and woke, calls to resign or be fired

He didn't think there was anything "wrong" about white male authors, just thought it was well past time to read some non white male authors - and some loudly disagreed

Your point has racist undertones. Why should the viewpoint of a person be related to skin color, gender, or religion. All you are doing here is judging people according to group membership which is discrimination.

Wanting other lenses, viewpoints and positions is not hate
I agree, but why should the lenses be different?
Wanting to be recognized and represented is not hate
We belong to the human race and there is only one human race. The accomplishments of Tiger Woods, Isaac Newton, and Einstein represent who I am even though I am not English, Jewish, or black/Asian. You seem to prefer tribalism.

    No disagreement.

They say what they say because they recognize the tribalism. Why can we unite and stop talking about differences? Why can we be just ONE and seek the unity that is needed to achieve liberté, egalité, and fraternité,

When you're in a position of power and privilege equality looks like oppression
What do you mean by equality? There is no such thing as equality among humans. All of us exist in hierarchy of talent and competence.

This is a great post. It won't mean anything to the target audience, but it is absolutely spot on.

I have been in America for nearly 50 years

I am not an economist and I cannot make a sound judgment about Ronald Reagan.
So you expect us to believe that you have been in this country for almost 50 years and you can't make a comment on Reagan because you are not an economist? You are making it easier and easier to call BS on your entire schtick.
The issue is that some people think they are making an argument by regurgitating recycled buzzwords.
I'm glad you realize that you've been doing this. The next step is to stop doing it.

I am ambivalent about Reagan. I enjoyed his wit and charm. This is a great joke!
The Chewbacca defense doesn't work here.

I am going to assume you dislike Reagan.
Your stingers are cute, but could be better. I refrain from using stingers because I do not want to offend.

I contend that you know exactly who Reagan was and you know his policies. You know what trickle down theory is and you know it didn't work, hasn't worked and never will work. You present yourself as wanting to engage in real conversation but you make half-brain assertions with no proof to back it up. When questioned you either bring up strawmen arguments, glass over the question or completely ignore them. Why do you continue to do this when people try to engage you in conversation?

    I love conversation.
    I dislike partisan acrimonious exchanges.

We should just ignore people like this. if we don't talk about racism, i'm sure they'll just go away, right? /sarcasm
"It'd be nice to have a couple of slaves," one of the men said in the video while making a whipping motion. "It'd be nice. I wish I had about three or four. Mow the yard, clean the house."

The man then appeared to say that he planned to hire a Black maid "to piss off everybody."

It is tempting to attack the messenger when you hear a message that you do not like. It is much harder to try to debunk the message.
Messages presented disingenuously have no value. You have presented nothing of value here. Everything you have presented has been debunked.

If you don't like the image being displayed in the mirror don't stand in front of it.
You are behaving like a bald guy trying to convince everyone else that you have a full head of hair.

Paul, everyone here admits racism will never go away. But the fact that you think because it will always be here we just ignore, not talk about it, etc is appalling. I tell my children all the time not to ignore it, call people out and don't let them get away with it being ok. When i see a racist being racist, i usually try to shame them as much as possible.

I do warehouse work, i (used to) deal with a lot of delivery drivers. So many times i had to tell drivers i am not like that, please do not use that language in this office. they will crawfish, get quiet or try real hard to change the subject. They assume because I look white (with my safety glasses and hardhat on), i must be racists like them. I have no shame in embarrassing them. F them. I am saddened by how many over the years.
