    Intentional triggering of the opposition
This voting law alone rids us of the {MOD EDIT} and it is 1/100 as offensive as the 300 bills the right has put together across the nation to take away votes of Democrats to get rid of us. The right can no longer exist in a democracy and they know it ,so they will do anything at all to stay in power, that includes anything to take away the votes of Democrats and anyway at all to turn around election for any reason, of course that reason will be if Dems win. their 1/6 attempt to bring down our country and democracy to force in a piece of shirt for a dictator. Show us clearly what they will do if we let them. If you are a patriot , you won't let them.

There are no shortcuts to solving this problem and that is not a good solution as it just introduces more problems.

Republicans are going to continue to run on Trumpism, that has to be faced head-on with smart politics.. your suggestion here and removing the filibuster are not smart politics.. they're short-sighted, unrealistic, and/or vengeance driven politics that are destined to have unintended consequences.

Biden won because moderates and independents voted for him overwhelmingly over Trump.. those are not the people that are going to love criminalizing non-voting and removing the filibuster.
{MOD EDIT} can't exist in a democracy and they know it ,they will do anything to stay in power and will destroy us to staty in power, how stupid if we let them sit in the bushes trying to bring down this country , thats real insanity.

I've been asked this twice. all laws have consequences ,start with a small fine first, then ramped up including possible jail time.

Would people be required to vote from prison? If people resist arrest after not paying their fine, what level of force can the police use to affect their arrest? What agency and level of government would be in charge of pursuing the crime of not voting? Would the law apply to US citizens in Puerto Rico or other US territories who don't have meaningful representation in the electoral college or congress? Would it apply to US citizens living abroad? Would there be exceptions for people who got sick on election day? What if people didn't register to vote? would they be tracked and forced to register to vote?

The reason these questions come up is because what seems like a good idea becomes a terrible idea once you get into the process of its implementation.

What the hell are you talking about, what a group of goofball questions, it would be a law and be treated exactly the same as the category of laws that it falls into. Are you joking?

We get this law passed and the [Mod Edit :nono: Partisan Triggering term] is gone. That should be the cause of every patriot in this country. They can't exist in a democracy anymore but they will destyroy this great country to stay in power.
Just my extremely liberal opinion, but you should stop referring to Republicans as “the hate party.” There is nothing constructive about that and it only fuels defensiveness and retorts in kind.

Those are all questions that would have to be answered by the text of the law you are proposing.

Well said. I left the R party, and I do wish they'd push back against Trump more, but spewing vitriol, and yes, hate every other post isn't and shouldn't be tolerated here. Go to the liberal board for all that. Here is supposed to be an open forum for all political persuasions to the extent possible. I'd rather it not become an echo chamber because then it becomes like any other one-sided message board. There's already plenty of those.

I am extremely late to this, but this is correct. This thread should not have been allowed to start to begin with, it was deliberately worded to be combative and dismissive of an opposition party, which is not what this board is for. The Main Community Board is intended for discussion between opposing view points, and starting off calling the other side "the hate group" is clearly not intending to start a discussion but pick a fight.
