    Intentional triggering of the opposition
This voting law alone rids us of the {MOD EDIT} and it is 1/100 as offensive as the 300 bills the right has put together across the nation to take away votes of Democrats to get rid of us. The right can no longer exist in a democracy and they know it ,so they will do anything at all to stay in power, that includes anything to take away the votes of Democrats and anyway at all to turn around election for any reason, of course that reason will be if Dems win. their 1/6 attempt to bring down our country and democracy to force in a piece of shirt for a dictator. Show us clearly what they will do if we let them. If you are a patriot , you won't let them.

How would you even enforce such a measure? Forcing someone to do something when they don't want to is a sure fire way of having it backfire. Now if you want to talk about making voting less of a hassle and more accessible, yes absolutely.

I'll just quote what I said in another thread.

Fork that shirt. If someone doesn't want to vote, then that's their choice. If we ever become forced or coerced into doing something for the government outside of taxes and maybe public health, I'm moving to Korea with my wife.
Imo, make voting as accessible as possible without requiring or coercing them to vote. Personally, I'd love to be able to vote by mail or internet. As long as it's secure, I'm down with it.

Giving a $500 or so tax credit for voting would be the closest thing we could ever come to mandatory voting, but even that isn't going to happen.

We have to do something about the partisan primary process. It is driving us towards extremism.

The reason we can't have nice things is because no ranked choice voting and/or non-2 party options.

This is an idiotic idea....we are better than this type on nonsense....

I appreciate the mindset but I disagree

Forced voting is the wrong play - I'd settle for a law that every citizen 18 plus has the right to vote

I think what needs to happen is protecting and expanding voters rights - make it so anyone who wants to vote can do so easily

All the suppression laws that they are trying to pass (or already passed) get thrown out

Extend registration time - get rid of any stupid 'you can't drive a busload of people to get registered or to the polls’ or 'can't vote on Sunday' laws

Voting by mail and early voting should be law of the land without restriction

Law passed that there is one vote drop box for at least every X citizens

Tally the mailed/early votes as they come in so we don't have a repeat of last year where we are waiting so long for them to be counted
(Tally but don't reveal results until a certain time on election day)

Make Election Day a national holiday like in many other countries - (this won't cover everyone - some people have to work) Maybe those that do get paid leave for an hour or two (hope that doesn't get abused by people just taking the couple hours when they voted weeks ago)

Have a bi-partisan committee and protocol in place to investigate any legitimate concerns over fraud - pre-determine exactly what legitimate means and exactly what will happen and there is nothing legitimate about "my side lost so they must have cheated"

Figure out national policy on exactly how to count college students, people working out of state

Released felons can vote - they served their time - I'd say day of release they're good to go but I could be convinced of putting a "good behavior" time frame of 6 months, 12 or 18 - but after that and forevermore they're free to vote

Make Florida get their shirt together (although I think they did fine last year)

I'd also try to do something about the mountain of misinformation during campaigns

John Q Public can say whatever they want but if you're a candidate, on a candidate's campaign staff, work for a superPAC, have them I don't know, maybe tell the truth? and be able to prove what they are saying

I know this is a huge gray area but I hate when they tell a bald faced, four Pinocchio, pants on fire lie and when called out on it just say "First amendment" or "they should do their own research"

But at least that is a "yeah I'm lying what of it"

What I really hate is the ride or die lie, and swear it's the truth no matter what facts come out "2+2 is clearly 22. You have one 2 and you add it to another 2 how is it NOT 22?"

I say if political parties want to have a primary, they should foot the entire bill of the primary process — paying the poll workers, facilities, machines, etc. Otherwise, just have an open ballot with any candidate who wants to run and a runoff of the top two vote getters no matter the party or affiliation.

If you can legally vote, then you should be able to vote legally. Should, not have.

    But yes please.

I think the EC and gerrymandering play a part as well though. What's the point of my Biden vote in LA? Or Bob's Trump vote in L.A.? It's a bit disheartening. The system is archaic and should be gutted. Gerrymandering has a similar issue on a smaller scale.

    Open up voting options
    Trash the EC
    District by independent committee
    Ranked choice

districts should make some sort of geometric sense and not look like a Rorschach test

I like the way some states (Florida is one, if I'm not mistaken) handle that. Mail in ballots are signature checked, and checked for deficiencies. Once they are ok'ed, they are fed into the counting machines and scanned. However, the "tabulate" button is not pressed until election day. So, no one at all knows what the vote totals are until election day.

I think that's the most secure way to speedily count the ballots while ensuring complete secrecy on the totals prior to election day.

Good God Man all laws are made to stop people from doing what they want to do, How old are you? Enforcing it is way easier then the enforcement on all other laws. Hell you Vote on your name. I have to ask , have you ever voted.

    Having everyone vote is not for one of the issues that was responded back , everyone voting will get rid of this countries biggest threat and enemy. Let them do what they want and they will destroy our democracy. 1/6 They all know that they can't exist in a democracy. That's why they are so Anti American ,anti government , anti Democracy . They are willing to force in a dictator 1/6 and they will take away the votes any way they can to stay in power. {MOD EDIT}

Write a law saying everyone has to vote and this hate group is toast.
if we made a law requiring people to vote, what do you propose as the consequences for people who refuse to vote?

I've been asked this twice. all laws have consequences ,start with a small fine first, then ramped up including possible jail time.

We get this law passed and [Mod Edit :nono: Partisan Triggering term] is gone. That should be the cause of every patriot in this country. They can't exist in a democracy anymore but they will destyroy this great country to stay in power.

There are no shortcuts to solving this problem and that is not a good solution as it just introduces more problems.

Republicans are going to continue to run on Trumpism, that has to be faced head-on with smart politics.. your suggestion here and removing the filibuster are not smart politics.. they're short-sighted, unrealistic, and/or vengeance driven politics that are destined to have unintended consequences.

Biden won because moderates and independents voted for him overwhelmingly over Trump.. those are not the people that are going to love criminalizing non-voting and removing the filibuster.
