Under various recently-organized titles, Million MAGA March, Stop the Steal, and others, Trump supporters are planning to rally in support of Trump (for what specific purpose is likely in the eye of the beholder). The first is scheduled for tomorrow at noon EST at Freedom Plaza, about three blocks from the White House.

Concerns about extremists joining them are growing, along with concerns about opposing groups and anti-facists.

Another very real concern is if things do get rough, will federal law enforcement (integral to law enforcement in that part of DC) leave it to DC to handle?

Chuck, I think extremists are organizing these marches, so technically there isn’t concern that they will join, because it’s their own cause.

Every day that goes by without Republican leadership stepping up inches us closer to a doomsday result, where a valid US presidential election gets overthrown by the party in power. I go back and forth with my fears about this. Telling myself it is extremely unlikely one minute, and then seeing statements like John Kelly’s, which pays lip service to the idea that Trump could get a second term. Seeing Lou Dobbs stating that Republicans should just reject the outcome of the election on national tv with no blowback.

No rational human being at this point thinks that Biden didn’t win the election, and that the election wasn’t free and fair. We are letting the inmates run the asylum.

We should be concerned, because it only takes a small percentage of fervent violent people to cause chaos. The percentage seems to be disturbingly high of people that reject reality or support those that reject reality. The seeds were planted by Trump months ago to reject a loss, and they are bearing fruit.

The first thing they did was go destroy the BLM Memorial wall.

Nah, MAGA as nothing to do with ethnic grievance. Nothing at all.

It’s the beginning of the final act. Hope you got your popcorn during intermission.

I was tempted to go down to watch, but I thought better of it.
I don’t like counter protests or protest watchers when these groups show up. It just adds to their coverage and conflict is what they are seeking. The best thing is for the media to not have a reason to cover a few hundred aggrieved idiots.

That’s the back and forth on which is better

If there are 100 protestors and no counter protesters and no media to give the impression that they are irrelevant

Or 100 protestors with 1000 counter protestors to give the impression that they are way outnumbered

We already know they're outnumbered, so I like the first option better.

What I am just seeing on Twitter it looks pretty underwhelming. Hope it stays that way.

Most recent crowd estimates from Twitter (not official in any way) is at most 13,000 people. The My Pillow guy spoke and Seb Gorka gave a semi-coherent speech so far. The crowd looks uninspired, and Trump is golfing.
