The top player was removed on that video because the offside rule depends on the second to last defender, not the last defender. The last defender is usually the goalkeeper, but wasn't in that instance, it was the top guy, because the goalkeeper had rushed out past both of them.Just posted the video that proves my point, he was definitely on side
The player with the prior touch which moved the ball to the goal scorer was offside. By rule an offside player cannot facilitate a goal.
If the player passing the ball was offside when the ball was passed to them a pass back to an onside player is still offside.I'm a bit behind, just catching up on threads, but on this topic:
The top player was removed on that video because the offside rule depends on the second to last defender, not the last defender. The last defender is usually the goalkeeper, but wasn't in that instance, it was the top guy, because the goalkeeper had rushed out past both of them.
So he was technically offside at that precise moment in time. And I say it like that, because a fraction earlier he's onside (from both those defenders) and a fraction later he's onside (as the goalkeeper is moving back towards the goal), so his being offside depends on that accurately being the precise moment the ball was played by his team-mate.
But that's why he could be considered offside. And not because of this:
Because that's what someone who has no idea what they're talking about says. It's gibberish. The team-mate with the prior touch was entirely onside, he had four defenders in front of him including the goalkeeper.
