We don’t seem to have a thread on the story of the Air Guardsman who obtained and distributed troves of classified US material - seen as one of the most detrimental leaks to US national security ever. Some, like Tucker Carlson and Marge Green have defended Teixeira, even lauding him as a hero.

As today’s DOJ detention filing demonstrates, this is a very troubled and dangerous man.

Ugh. Yes, he’s a very disturbed individual who should not own guns or any other weapons for that matter.

He needs to made as an example of what happens if you willfully betray you oath otherwise, these oaths mean absolutely nothing.

The big thing that concerns me though is that this Peice of work was able to earn a TS/SCI clearance! It's just another example of how Guardsmen/Reservist are not held to the same standards as Active Duty personnel. There are shirtty AD personnel as well, but I still believe there are more honorable than dishonorable and that those entrusted with maintaining good order and discipline will do so.

His being able to access and obtain the material is elephant in the room, for sure.

I know people are going off about his age and rank, I'm wondering how he got past his Defense Investigative Service investigation (DIS)? That investigation includes a sit-down with a DIS Special Agent and a polygraph and you are telling me that within two years this clown went from passing that to betrayal? The term "pencil-whip" immediately comes to mind.

might be a bad analogy here, but my theme is same- ever know a guy or gal in high school, straight As, no drinking, no smoking etc. straight-laced?

Goes off to college and within 1st year, off the rails partying, average grades, etc

A lot can happen with an 18-19 yr old in a year. Covid hit and he was relegated to online forums. How do you make friends, impress them to have them REALLY like/respect/admire you since you cant meet them in person and party, act crazy etc. You leverage what is available, and in this case, TS documents. Info about US intelligence that isnt for public consumption. Imagine the "aphrodisiac" THAT IS.

While i understand the need for the military to recruit immediately out of high school, i think the change has to come with respect to an Age Requirement going forward. 25 would be my suggestion- plenty of history to sort thru to get an idea of how a person is maturing.

And im not defending DIS, but we CANNOT forget that his dad ( i think step dad maybe ) was tied to the SAME UNIT as a Colonel or something. So, id venture a guess his position/rank etc while not DIRECTLY related, played a role in the investigative processes. " The kids dad is a Colonel ( or whatever rank he was ) and 30 year veteran" type thinking.

But yeah, its not a good look for the vetting process at all.

Maybe he was accessing all this info with "the Colonel's" credentials.

There isn't always a polygraph for a TS clearance.
